Another loss which doesn't bode well for form going into the world cup. Nice to see Taylor get a chance today, and score a very good 90, must be knocking the door for the squad. Good that Morgan scored a few runs as well today.

Shocking that we have been fined again for slow over rate. How can other teams manage to get the overs in but we can't???

Also does another poor performance from Stokes with bat and ball mean he has to miss out?

Cook is an embarrassment. It's clear to all that he cannot play one day cricket yet he refuses to step down. A great test player but a filthy one day player - go away Cook and give someone more deserving a chance.

Got himself stuck in a bubble , can't see the world from outside the England cricket team. On the plus side we look much better with Taylor in the team . Let's hope we can win the next 2 games.

SL set a challenging total England now with some rebuilding to do. Cook well at least he didn't get a duck.

I can't see in anyway he'll ever wear the England shirt again after reading his book on my holiday,

Not unless the sack the administrators.

He's still the best batsman England have got. I don't watch sport to be bored...I want entertainers.

Most top athletes have an arrogance or cockiness that makes them the best...and I want to see it.

Sri Lanka victory. Take the series too. Alastair Cook has to be dropped and stripped of the captaincy.

He was pretty poor for Surrey in the 20/20 last year.

I was always a big KP fan until i read his book, he really does come over as a bit of " up his own ass tt ". Shame really because i was looking forward to reading about battles with the Australians & how he managed to bat against the worlds best bowlers but every chapter just seemed to turn into sour grapes with the England set up & fellow players.

He may well be the best batsman England can call upon, but he's certainly not the type i'd want in my team if i was captain.

6 years younger than the Pakistani captain Misbah who recently hit a hundred in each innings vs Australia and then followed it up with a century against NZ.

But I agree with others - KP's book was the final nail in his England career. A real shame because he could have gone on to play many more tests but that's sport I suppose.

Sri Lanka had this wicket made specially for their spinners today.

A livelier track would have suited us more & we would have probably won, The strips in Australia & New Zealand will suite our batting & bowling more, Surely this mini tour is about team bonding & togetherness,Not many teams win a series or match against the Sri Lankan's at home. If cook & the team have a torrid world cup, then yes i agree he has to go.

Cook has now scored one half-century in his last 21 ODI innings. It is 30 months and 45 innings since he reached 80 in an ODI. And to make his embarrassment all the more acute, the only ODI series England have won this year came in the Caribbean when Cook (and other 50-over players) were rested to provide opportunities for the shorter-format specialists ahead of the World T20. The last time England won an ODI series under Cook was in New Zealand at the start of 2013, meaning they have won one of the last nine ODI series under his captaincy. (From cricinfo)

His time is up, dreadful dropped catch today, can't buy a run either. Sadly KP isn't coming back, unless the entire back office are fired, and actually I don't think their are many in the current set up players who would welcome him back with open arms either.

Still I live in hope that Morgans will come good.

In any normal scenario, he would have been sacked/ dropped ages ago. But we're talking about the ECB, who have yet to join the 21st century. Simply clueless; Clarke, Downton, Moores & Whittaker shouldnt be anywere near the England team.

On his day still a very good batsman. Will be interesting to see how he goes in the big bash. Was poor in last IPL batting and being skipper. I wonder if his star has faded???

Pieterson has been dropped from his IPL team today.

In other news, standby for an absolute humping in todays Sri Lanka ODI. SL 34/0 of 5 overs. Jaya's last match on home soil. We have a make shift bowling line up....

I live in hope of miracles, the truth is we just aren't very good at ODI's. I heard the weakest defence of Cook this morning, apparently he will make a lot of runs in Australia....

I see sensible cricket fans have given up on this England team, eyes closed, pretend it isn't happening.

Dilshan makes his 18th ODI ton. Now remind me as I have forgotten, which current England Batsman have 18 ODI tons ?
