Ive stated Im a big fan of Lee over the course of this season, will be a cracking player.

Right, that said - that was a st match, between two ste teams. If the Welsh end up winning this championship by whatever reasons then someone should ring Trading Standards. My God they are playing some rubbish at the moment.

But at least they aren't French. Ive no idea what to write about them. Ill leave it to someone else to lament their incompetence.

But on a positive note - Scotland v Italy was the best game Ive seen in years. Wonderful, wonderful Test Match. The pictures of Sergio at the end said it all, it meant everything. The best aspect of the match for me though were the series of absolutely titanic and genuine battles at the scrum. These weren't meaningless set piece restarts, they weren't wasted time, not ball in play etc, they were leaving each front 5 on their knees after each scrum. The superiority went one way then the other. You had initial pushes, second efforts and then amazingly 3rd pushes - just to gain inches. It was immense and glorious viewing. Avanti Avanti!!!

The problem for me with the Italy game and the scrum was that it was all about playing the ref for the penalty rather than playing the superior scrum to win the ball and tie in the forwards and open up the gaps. Sensible but not impressive!

That's just what it looked like.

Today's Refs have to give 'em. Not much room for wiggles.

I should be clear - I don't have a problem with Italy playing the ref for penalties - I was calling the same during the game - and I will certainly be happy if England do the same tomorrow, because that is one way to swing the game.

I just wouldn't describe it as superior and impressive play.

Absolute hogwash. You mean you were listening to the backs doing commentary? The Italian Pack player in the commentary made constant references to the effort the Packs were putting in. Yes, both sides were playing the ref, but it was penalty a piece, it wasn't constant one sided. Once that was worked out the penalties stopped and it was simply Pack v Pack. They were massively impressive efforts.

Really can't call this one at all. Ireland haven't been playing their best so far and England have made some silly plays too.

It'll be a physical game anyway, looking forward to it.

This.

Best Scotland tight five display in many years.

I usually feel sympathy for the Scots back row after another defeat but this time nobobdy can criticise the big lads up front.

Combatting the nerves with San Miguel. biggrin

Wife and kids been sent to mother-in laws. Will have my brother next to me via FaceTime from California.

Weather in Dublin: Rain and sleet interspersed with sunny spells, blustery.

The kicking game is the predictable focus, and Ford, good as he is, is not as good as Sexton. England need the pack to dominate, keep it tight and try to disrupt Irish line out after safe kicking to touch for territory.

Massive, massive game ahead!!

Hoping for a good game and an England win, need to keep our discipline and not get a ste start to be in with a shout of winning.

Think Ireland know they'll have to do a bit more than choke the life out England to win, I also reckon we have enough players on the pitch to ask questions of the Irish defence but won't mean a thing unless we can win it up front. Ford's getting built up for a bit of a fall but I hope that's just the pessimist in me talking.

Both teams look good going forward.

Got a good feeling about this.

Jesus.... Is England really so utterly lacking in depth at fullback???

I spent the morning telling a bunch of 8 & 9yr olds to run straight and not fart around going sideways, and Alex Goode seems hell bent on demonstrating exactly why this afternoon! Is he this bad for his club?

It's an entertaining game, let's hope England can get some possession and pressure going in the second half.

and stop making silly errors
