After the Wales match I was breathless, majic. For Ireland to better that, (albeit with a pathetic Scottish turnout and they should be ashamed of themselves), even better. England, well what a target. BUT I have never watched a match with so much interference from a TMO/whatever "referee". IT spoilt the game and in 2 instances, got it wrong!
So congrats Ireland.

RE the french kicking into touch, They could have kept on going but they were pushed back deep into their own 22 so rather than concede more points they decided to finish the game.

Absolute cracking day of rugby, I didn't catch the Wales game but when i saw the score I shat my pants being an irish supporter, thought there was no way we would win Scotland by 23.

After the Ireland game I thought there was no way England would dick France by 26 points, and it was squeeky bum time right up until the whistle (and then some), awesome awesome match.

Just to think though, how bonkers that day was, if Scotland would have grounded that late try then England would be the champions.

In rugby after 80 mins you keep playing until the ball goes dead (among other scenarios)

Unless you're the team trying to win the done thing is usually to bring a game to it's conclusion by kicking the ball out of play.
Yes I knew about playing until the ball goes dead, but I'd have thought that this "so much more sporting than football" game should have seen France keep the ball in play. Ah well, thanks for the answers.

Great day of rugby, great effort by England, but if Ireland had lost the Championship it would have been down to one of the worst displays of refereeing against the welsh.

Amazing day.

I think England/France might have just pipped Ireland/Wales. Just.

Worth pointing out that Vunipola's try wasn't a try. He dropped the ball over the line. Had England sneaked it at the end Ireland would have felt justifiably aggrieved.

Like the French bloke dropping it while being pushed out the back?

Bloody hell, what a day...GET IN!!!

Absolutely nail biter at the end....if Hogg hadnt dropped the ball...Jesus!

Anyone else think we should have a rule change with points awarded for higher points wins? Bloody hell it made for exciting rugby today, what's the record for tries scored in a 6N day?
No.

It's all well and good having bonus points for tries scored or close losses in a domestic league where realistically nobody is going to win all their games, but if you introduced it into the Six Nations, it would make a mockery of the whole thing the first time someone turned in a Grand Slam but lost the tournament because another team scored more bonus points.

As an England fan I am not in the least disappointed. Incredible rugby. The last two weeks of the six nations have provided matches on an epic scale.

Congrats to Ireland for winning.

The Southern Hemisphere have a formidable challenge playing so far from home against Ireland, England and Wales in the RWC.

For the day that's in it, I think we'll stick to Champagne party

What a spectacle, shame Scotland were quite so inept that they essentially handed the title to Ireland who on balance probably just about deserved it.Amazing 2nd half by Wales, thought they'd done enough but who'd thought what was to come!.suppose Scotland can take solace that their pathetic display stopped the English.

Just got in from a great day's rugby watching. 'My' team won 69:12, I saw most of the Welsh match, heard the Irish and then saw a fantastically exciting match of England v France. I saw the England/Wales U20 match last night. I'm all rugbied out.

This weekend has been a fantastic showcase for the game. Ever so exciting. Brilliant.

There can be no cause for criticism.

one of the victorious England U20 players came to our club to watch our match. A really pleasant chap.

It's been a great couple of days rugby.

I like my rugby. I like all sport for that matter.
Three great games today. Answer one question for me though; why oh why can England not play such an expansive game all the time? I know 'match conditions' etc, but it was like watching Chelsea in a way. The talent is there but they don't express it, or maybe are coached not to.

I hope they kept a little back for Wimbledon next week. The poor little cherubs are likely to be in a bit of a sulk after today!! hehe

London One South is getting rather tight at the top. It made standing in a freezing cold field without a hat well worth it!

yes

Totally enthralling.

Wales' 2nd half was majestic, and the England / France encounter was epic. I also expected two things :

i) France not to put up such a performance as they did

ii) Scotland not fielding the Inverness 2nd under twelve side masquerading as the international squad

Christ alive Scotland should disband their international team if they're going to keep playing like that. It was embarrassing to watch - and that's from somebody that endured Wales in the 1990's!
