A friend of mine is scratch, spent ten years only playing 3 or 4 rounds a year to maintain his hcap.

Different league smile

Even luckier bugger! Still, I've just had my new shiny Rangefinder delivered...that's got to help me cut at least 5 shots...surely. laugh

Lucky sod! I'd love to get home in time for 9. The joys of the commute from the big smoke!

With the autumn fast approaching I have a feeling I will be needing decent waterproofs as I intend to keep playing in all weathers.

Is there any worthwhile alternative to Gore-Tex? A lot of manufacturers offer breathable waterproofs but I am suspicious as they are nearly always cheaper than the Gore-Tex ones.

Am I stuck with buying £400 worth of Galvin Green or is there a better option?

You can buy £400 worth of Ping, Nike or Adidas hehe

I have a full Galvin suit and it is fantastic.

Work from home, golf course is only a 10-15 drive so should be on the tee by 5.50pm! cloud9

I played at 17.56 last week and we only just got 9 holes in before it was getting too dark. I hate winter.

Gonna be spending less time on the course and more on the range I think.

Yep, it's getting tight to fit it in now! I'm right on the south coast so with a nice day like today it should be playable until around 8pm. We play 9 holes in around 1.5 hours so a few weeks left hopefully....

Yeah, our 9s generally take closer to 2 hours as it's a pretty long course and there are still a few slower groups out. Plus looking for your ball in the rough takes time whistle

I went to the range last night in an effort to ingrain my new driver swing thoughts before I go on holiday.

The thing that seems to have helped the most is to tense my leg muscles before swinging (I don't like the phrase 'activating' but it might be more appropriate). The thinking is that it gives you a more stable base, seems to work for me.

No golf for the next couple of weeks now.

Had my first lesson today which was included with my trial membership of my new local club.

Wow, cannot believe what a difference a couple of simple changes has made! I'm well pleased with how much more consistent my ball striking is and how much straighter I am hitting it. I'm also hitting it much further than before.

The amazing thing is, most of it came down to posture. I am 6'4" and basically I was hunching over the ball and closing my shoulders. The pro got me to sit back a bit, bend my legs a bit, stick my arse out a bit and straighten my back a bit. What a revelation! My head now moves less and my swing has much more room to do its thing. Well chuffed. Going to play a round on Monday and give it a try on the course.

Extremely wet game of golf this morning.

The water hazard you can see in the centre of the picture is actually water running down the middle of the fairway

Had a lovely weekend at The Oxfordshire.

Played really well in tough windy conditions on Saturday, scored 34 points. Drunk too much on Saturday night watching the boxing and limped across the line with 31 points in much easier conditions yesterday, just felt so tired!!
