Well, as usual, up yet another 0.1 at the weekend and thus a full shot on to my handicap. This is really, really pissing me off as there is no inherent lack of ability. An extreme lack of concentration.
That said it could be argued that to go out in a medal not having played for 3 weeks is foolhardy. It took 9 homes to start hitting the ball ok....

Got to the range on Monday. More practice needed. Still, get to play Sunday & have just ordered some new Bridgestone B330-s to go with my new shiny rangefinder. Anyone have any experience of these? Hoping they're a decent alternative to Pro V1s & hopefully they're softer than the AD333 i currently use!

Love the 330's - they're a really nice ball.My ball of choice at the moment are the NXT Tour S, much cheaper than a Pro V1 but not dissimilar results:

Also, I think the new Callaway Supersoft are a superb ball! Give them a try

Couldn't resist as direct golf have got 20% off at the moment! I nearly went for the Nxt Tour S but wanted to try something different to titleist. I might give them a bash when I've put all the Bridgestones OOB/gotten them wet! My ball of choice at the moment are the NXT Tour S, much cheaper than a Pro V1 but not dissimilar results:

They look in good condition considering the age! Need to grab a vokey 50 or 52 next time I'm in the pro shop. That 110 yard gap in my bag is a killer!
Sorry folks bit behind, but I only have the 56 degree, and those are pictures from Google The one I've found is in pretty good nick with just a couple of stone marks on the sole, just need to be brave enough to try it out Also in the process of a recent house move, I also found some more blasts from the past - 3 brand new Titleist Professionals (90 Compression ) and the original Nike ball that Tiger used (Tour Control TW's I blieve). Think they may have lost compression slightly by now.
I also found more in me mum's garage, and I must admit I have no idea what to do with half of it. So far I've found
Original Great Big Bertha 5 Wood
Taylormade Burner 3 Wood (1988 vintage!!)
Big Bertha Steelhead 7 Wood
Taylormade RAC Wedges (52 and 56, black finish)
And various other bits and pieces. Now some will be kept for spares or emotional reasons, but what the hell do you do with a load of golf clubs with no real value?
Oh and I found about 3 1 irons if anyone is feeling brave

Wilson DX2 soft is another lovely ball to hit - really soft and buttery feel to it. However the B330S has been superseded now I think which is a shame as its a great ball. Now replaced by the e series
I too have a 1 iron nestling in the archives. An original Ping Eye. Wish I could hit it, as it would be ideal in the winds at Crail

I don't think so, the E series balls (5,6 & 7) are not the premium Bridgestone balls, the 330 range as far as I know are still their premium balls.Direct Golf are doing the B330-Rx for £24 with a free towel and you'll get 20% off as well.
Not quite the s model but a good mid price ball.
Also try the Srixon AD333 Tour rather than the TItleist mid range Tour S. Much better ball.. IMHO
Or if you want a premium performer at mid range price, have a look at the Vice balls

Will do, just need to pop back to the mother;s house to see what's there. Think we have an original Big Bertha, a Big Bertha X-12 and a Yonex, but will check for you and let you know! And sorry to be a broken record on the balls front, but if you find any Nike 20XI's or RZN Black/Silvers on offer give them a try, lovely golf balls - last time I used one I managed to get a sand iron to come back 10 feet! Shame it pitched about 3 feet away and ended up 13 :/ Still lovely feel round the greens and plenty of action on approach shots - seem pretty long too.
Also in our Doubles Knockout (which we've made the final of ) we've been using good old Srixon Soft Feel, which seems pretty good as well. Slightly harder than what I'm used to, but they are well behaved and pretty long too.

I've always been a bit doubtful of Nike golf products. Ever since hearing about Woods not actually using Nike clubs...maybe I'm just a cynic! I've used the Srixon soft feel a couple of times & as you say they're long for a soft ball, if that makes any sense!

Definitely worth revisiting them, they do some quality gear now - I believe the only time Tiger didn't use their kit was the original Nike driver. That was a Titleist 975R with a swoosh on the bottom, rest were all Nike. My bag's been pretty much exclusively Nike for about 8 years now so am totally biased, can see why you'd be dubious though I've always been a bit doubtful of Nike golf products. Just wondering actually folks, do we have enough regulars on this thread for a PH golf day? Probably be next season now, but was thinking it would be rude to spend all this time talking about golf and not have a knock at some stage

There was that rumour that he never used their irons & they were in fact a set of Muira's. No-ones ever actually gotten a definitive answer as far as I know? A friend has a set of Nike CB's , no idea on the model & they don't half go a long way.Just wondering actually folks, do we have enough regulars on this thread for a PH golf day? If definitely be up for a PH golf day mate. I think Rosscow mentioned in many pages & weeks back? Maybe we should get an idea of interest & pick a fair venue so everyone has a fairly similar journey?
