Morning, gents. Over the last 4 weeks I seem to have developed a bit of a hook with my 3 wood and driver off the tee.
I got a friend to video me the other morning, I appear to have got a bit flat again (something I tend to do) and the club face looks closed during the back swing.
It's not a great angle to assess things from, but you'll see what I mean. It looks to me like I have a lot of movement in the left leg as well.
Anything else you think I need to work on?! Cheers!

And I thought I had a flat swing! You've taken it to a new level there mate. Your take away looks good until you get to hip height and it looks like you've tried to almost yank the club behind you, if that makes sense? Rather than keeping it on the same path/plane all the way back.I got a friend to video me the other morning, I appear to have got a bit flat again (something I tend to do) and the club face looks closed during the back swing.

It also looks to me as though you're hitting it out of the toe of the club which will exaggerate your hook.
Get a lesson, you'll be 'fixed' in about 10 minutes rather than having 10 different swing thoughts from us lot on here who range from 'hackers' to the odd single figure golfer.
Need to try and get myself to the range soon, having a month between rounds is getting frustrating!

Yeah, as soon as I saw the video I thought 'Christ I've got flat!'
I'll be in for a lesson soon but struggling to find the time at the minute now the evenings have gone.
Cheers
Amateur opinion:
You're standing a little too far from the ball, and having to stretch to reach it on the way back.
The one-piece take-away is good, and whilst your plane is flat, I don't think that's a major problem.
The two things I'd suggest looking at are:
too much movement in the left knee - try to keep it more steady, to in turn keep your hip rotation to a simpler movement. Everything is moving in multiple planes at present.
Your downstroke is from the bottom up, which is good, but you aren't allowing enough time for your hands to reach the top. The knees are going forward before the hands have finished going backward. Try to be conscious of stopping at the top, just for a tiny moment, before firing the knees and hips.
(just an amateur opinion.)

I think the flat plane is linked to how far away you're standing. Because your hands aren't hanging vertical at address, it's hard to swing them up, so you swing them around.
That's ok in itself, as long as it comes back on plane, but I think the way you're clearing your knees and hips too early is twisting the plane from the top and making you a bit skewed on the way down.
The club is coming down on a plane 6-8 inches in front of the plane it goes back on, because your early hips have taken the space your hands need.

It looks like you've got a strong right hand in your grip which is often referred to as being 'under the shaft'. To confirm this look down at your grip at address and you'll be able to see part of your left thumb. Therefore you should twist right hand very slightly to the left to make that hand more neutral (the 'V' in the right hand will then point at your right shoulder). That should help bring the hook back to a draw.I got a friend to video me the other morning, I appear to have got a bit flat again (something I tend to do) and the club face looks closed during the back swing.

In my own experience it's the simple things (like grip and alignment) that can make your game go off because you take them for granted and don't realize that they've slipped from where they should be.
I agree with Jim that you look a little bit far away from the ball at address, and you're quite hunched over.
Take away is good, but your right arm stays SO connected to your body that when you fire your body in the correct sequence on the way down the only way the club can travel is massively from the inside. Staying connected is good, but it looks like someone has stitched your sleeve to the body of your shirt at the top of your back swing.
I wouldn't say there's much wrong with your legs. Maybe collapsing the right leg a bit. Try to feel a bit more resistance in your right leg so it doesn't straighten so much. That should quiet down the movement in your front leg.
But...as we always say, a lesson will be the easiest way to sort out any troubles you're having.

Just an observation from a keen amateur (and someone that reads far too much and watches far too many instructional videos than is good for any man); if you draw a straight line up from the ball, through your shoulder and out behind you, it looks like your hands would fall well below this line at the top of your back-swing.
Depending how good you are at putting visuals into action, perhaps try and make your hands follow this imaginary line, so you finish with your hand more above your right shoulder at the top of your back-swing, as opposed to behind it.

Stupid comment I know but in the snap shot, if your feet are lined up in the correct direction then either tee marker is set up in completely the wrong direction or you have teed up well ahead of the tee marker.
It's a bit misleading - the tee box follows the boundary of the golf course on the left so is fairly straight compared to the shot you need to take.
The line is the right edge of the white building you see in the distance. You can see the direction the tee box goes by looking forward to the yellow tee box.
Also, I'm allowing for a bit of wind coming from the right along with my (usual) draw.
Ball is in line with the tee markers
Rosscow, haven't posted here for a while.... Your set up is within useable parameters although your shoulders are a little open to the rest of the body alignment and although the backswing is flat that is not really an inhibitor as it could be down to shoulder and back flexibility.
However a big problem that I can see is that your club face is massively shut at mid backswing and also at the top of your backswing and if that closed face is being carried down to impact then you will have the dreaded hook that will go violently left.
Check your grip, making sure it is not too strong...
You also seem to roll the hands inside at the beginning of the takeaway which can lead to a flatter backswing.

It's a nice swing, just an insanely strong left hand grip to sort outI got a friend to video me the other morning, I appear to have got a bit flat again (something I tend to do) and the club face looks closed during the back swing.

Ideally you want the clubface to match the lead arm at the top, your clubface is 45deg shut on that video.

- My grip has been way to strong and right hand dominant. I have resolved this by working on a neutral grip, and getting. A bit firmer with the three fingers of my left hand, as I was letting go without knowing it!
- I was taking the club away inside, which I think you are doing also. This means you end up beneath the plane and cramped at the top. You need to work the hands upthe plane so that you are deeper and higher at the top.
- Thought I was turning but I wasn't. Really get your back to the target, you will be surprised. At what this does to the position of your hands at the top!
As stated above, get some lessons, but don't expect to solve it in 30 mins is my advice!
Got my first round booked in for a few weeks at a course I played once, about 4 years ago. Should result in some interesting scores. Still, getting to take the old man round with me which is a nice bonus. Don't often get to play golf together anymore! Hopefully the weather holds off!
I'm playing at The Berkshire on Sunday, anyone played there?

Certainly looks nice.

That course looks lovely, with some pretty small greens by the look of it! Appears to have plenty of trees too, so based on that, I'd be hitting irons off almost every tee! Unless you're very consistent/controlled/straight with your Driver/3 Wood?http://www.theberkshire.co.uk/

I played my first full 18 for about 5 weeks yesterday (I was away last weekend and have had 4somes comps for the previous weeks!).
I seem to have lost all ability to hit 3 wood or driver
Having said that, tried to make my swing less flat and saw definite improvements, so I'm sure a lesson or three when I have time will see me back on the fairways.
Course is in amazing condition, greens are as pure as I've seen them.
