Convert metres to yards:

Add the first two digits (of a 3 digit number) to the original number:

150m ....... 15+150........165 yards.

0r

80m......... 8+80..........88 yards.
10% then :-)

Exactly, but the above is an easy trick for anyone who finds the percentage calculation a bit more difficult.

Ended up with a 78 today frown left so many shots out there. Greens had been hollow cored as well. Hopefully they recover quickly!

Anyone willing to help me out with a bit of laymans explanation?

I play Golf socially and normally just 9 holes with the same friends. We just play stroke play and don't take it too seriously. I'm also not a member of any club.

Anyway, I'm playing with a bigger group at an 18 hole course next week to raise a bit of money for a workmates son but have just had a message to say its Stableford Scoring and I need to know my handicap.

Haven't a clue what I should use as a handicap or how to go about keeping my score, I have Googled various different explanations but I'm still a bit confused.

What normally happens in this sort of situation?

What do you usually shoot over 9 holes?

for the first time in yonks broke 80...... Yet left at least 6 shots out there but struck the ball well. Still 75 was a high point for me lately.
The tip a few pages back regarding takeaway helped me no end. I was so he'l bent on not whipping the club inside tat I was reverse pivoting plus keeping the face facing the ground at takeaway - with occasionally catastrophic results. Still suffer with the odd pull/hook but hey ho........

Handicap will be the max, 28. If you were hitting under 50 on a regular basis it'd be lower.

First game of the year today, first singles match.

5 holes down with 5 left to play, things were looking embarrassing.

Winning the next 5 and the play off was a good save. smile

34 points today, 3 blobs. Bloody windy though so pretty happy. Could have been much better after 21 points on the front 9!

Hi Dave
I play around Cambridgeshire (badly sometimes)
Where abouts are you, North, South?

I tend to play at Pidley as it's a lovely course and friendly atmosphere and the 19th holes pretty good as well.

Wyboston Lakes in good as well, if you just want to play 9 then the Old Neane near Ramsey is not bad either.
What days do you play? We try and get 9 in after work or play Sunday afternoons.

I'm not that good either, especially as Until Friday I hadn't played since November.

Definitely up for that, where are you based? I can normally be around for about 5pm onwards, or Sunday is ok too.

Cheers

Near Huntingdon.
I'll check my diary, probably a Sunday's best until the clocks forwards.
