20 degree hybrid to reach a 160 yard par 3 - and I still only managed the front bunker!!!
Ha! That's crazy! Presuming you hit similar distances to me after seeing the swing you posted mate. We had a downhill 181 yard par 3 which would normally play around 150ish - which i didn't quite reach with a well hit 5. On the other hand downwind, we had a flat 187 yard par 3 to finish, i reached the back of the green with a soft 8 iron. The lads i play with all hit 9 irons and reached! Managed to hole the birdie putt too! The lad I was playing with today hit his tee shot on the 17th, a downhill 130 yard par 3. He hit 8i into a 2-3 club headwind. The ball was travelling back towards him by the time it landed, and finished about 35 yards short. Tough conditions today!
I'd still have shot under my handicap (15) if I hadn't wasted 6 shots on the last 3 holes. As it is I was only 3 over my handicap, so it's not all bad considering what a tricky course it is.

Just been asked to be the 4th player in a Texas scramble this Saturday
I've not played since October, yikes, I'm going to have to squeeze in a couple of holes over the next day or two to remind me what end of the club to hold, nothing worse than announcing a single figure handicap and subsequently topping it off the 1st tee.
(I have done this on more than one occasion )

Or your team will be on the 16th having done really well so far, but having not used any of your tee shots. Mickelson is playing great in Houston. Could make it very interesting if there's another left hander playing well at the Masters, seen as the course seems to suit Bubba so well. Does Phil hit the ball right to left well like Watson?
Tiger has announced he's playing too, so it adds a bit more interest to see if he actually has a short game!
I can't wait for next weekend. My missus is gonna hate me for 4 days.

Well after many years of wanting to play golf I went on Monday and again today to have a go at Pitch and Putt, just to see how I got on, obviously not very good
It looks a lot easier to hit the ball then it actually is!
What's the best thing for me to do to get into playing Golf?
Go to the driving range and have lessons. It looks a lot easier to hit the ball then it actually is!

Or, better still, get a competent, patient friend to teach you first off and borrow his clubs while you're at it.

I disagree, use a competent friend if you have one but generally speaking I'd say invest a few hundred quid in getting your posture, grip and other basics sorted with a pro. I wish I had.
The cost puts a lot of people off Rosscow. We lose a lot of potential members because they don't want to spend £200 'learning how to hold the bat'.
You and I know how hard it is starting out but first timers are always shocked at the difficulty when they initially swing a club.
I coach beginners for free, it's normally a 6 month process before they're competent but they do go on to become members and regular, proficient players. That would cost £2000 if they were paying a pro coach, then there's clubs, bag, balls, shoes etc on top.
Half a dozen 30 minute group lessons for £90 is a sensible place to start. But if you don't put a few hours practise in between lessons, don't expect to get better very quickly.
I'd say an hour straight after the lesson and at least one more mid-week hour is the minimum to get going. After 6 weeks of that, you could be well on the way to putting a reasonable round together.
1:1 lessons are obviously better, but a solid grounding and lots of practise is more than most golfers started with.

Yep, really looking forward to it. My prediction is that the winner will come from Speith, Mcilroy, B Watson, Reed or Mickelson...and Tiger to miss the cut (probably by retiring)!Tiger has announced he's playing too, so it adds a bit more interest to see if he actually has a short game!
