Stop being Leftist.
+1 Lefties rule!
I like watching lefties but I find I'm always on the wrong side of the tee box and in their eye line.

the good thing about lefties is that course management is usually designed for the right handed Golfer so as long as you can draw the ball you can keep out of trouble easier

Well, I'm thoroughly impressed with The Belfry. I'd definitely recommend going to play there. The Derby isn't worth a long journey to get there(but is a perfectly decent little course), but the PGA is excellent and the Brabazon is easily the best course I've ever played. Absolutely stunning.

There's obviously been a lot of money thrown at the whole place as everything we saw in the whole complex is absolutely pristine.

It's just a shame that my golf deteriorated as the courses improved!

Sounds like it's worth another visit - the last time we went was before the £20m refurb smile

Glad you had a good time!

Had the grip on the new driver sorted last night, left it for an hour and then hit a few with it.

Wow - what a great start! Drove the driving range - I hit it so well I had to measure it with my GPS - 291 yards and resting up against the first cut at the end of the range!

Long may that continue!

Amazing what a new club can do for confidence! Is it pretty similar to the 25? Or different all together?

It sure is, it felt great at address!

It is similar to the 25, although it feels a tad lighter. The thing I noticed straight away was that it seems to sit nicer at address - just kind of looks better than the 25 when next to the ball. I like how the Turbulators almost help you with alignment, pointing to the ball sort of thing.

Also amazing what 3 layers of tape under the grip can do - instantly feels so much better, but then I do have large hands.

Do you use a mid size grip? Or have you just used the 3 layers of tape and had a regular grip stretched a little?

Yeah, I just had the original grip removed, tape added, and then the original grip put back on.

If anyone ever hears me say the word 'turbulator' out loud, you have my permission, nay request, to thump me in the face.

Funny game the whole idea of getting the grip right for your hands. Many many people don't both and just get a nice set of Golf Prides that feel nice.

Im ok with a standard grip on irons on a putter however I like the fattest grip I can get hold of. Using a TaylorMade ghost spider S at the moment (Nice loaner from my local pro) Its such an easy putter to use for someone who has zero faith in his own putting.

Well if you have average sized hands I'd say you don't really need to bother.

But my hands are rather large - 9 1/2" little finger to thumb when spread open - so it feels a lot better to me having that little extra thickness to grip on to.

My Ping irons have 1 layer of tape underneath their yellow colour grip (which I think is an extra 1/32").

It sounds like sweet FA but it does make a difference!!

What grips do people opt for out of interest?

Is it a fairly even mix of Lamkin and golf pride?

I've only ever had the standard grips and just had tape put underneath them - I've not had a set of clubs long enough to wear them out but I suspect my current i25's and wedges will get to that point eventually.

Newcomer to golf here. Played a few rounds in my youth and the odd round here or there since then. Now middle aged and with a bit more time on my hands I have decided I want to try and become a "good" golfer. My problem right now is horrendous inconsistency. When I hit it well, it's beautiful - long, straight and in the direction I intended. But when I hit it badly, it could go anywhere and it's costing me a lot of shots. I played 10 holes on Thursday and was 16 over but probably 8 of those shots were from lost balls. Will the consistency come just from more practice?

Practice always helps. Thing is every golfer wants that consistency but it never comes. I was ripping love 170 yard plus 6 irons on Saturday. Sunday duffing them half that distance and furious. Enjoy the game and work on what's wrong.

Lessons aren't a bad thing either.

Think of it in terms of learning to drive you would take many lessons before taking your driving test.
So take lessons and go to the driving range as much as you can before going on to a course

Have been thinking of taking some lessons. I am now old enough to accept that I don't know it all and that I can benefit from other peoples expertise. I have got a credit card for my local range and trying to hit 50 balls every other day to build up some rythm. I guess lessons now would be a good idea before I start drilling in some bad habits. I feel that I have it within me to get quite good at this sport. Just need to get my head down and work at it I guess.

Those multi-compound golf pride ones for me.

Much more important than any given brand, IMO, is that they are newish and actually grippy.

They go off so gradually, that you might not notice you needing to hold on tighter and tighter, which cannot be good for your swing.
