And birdie it was.... followed by a superb drive off the next tee. He's OK!
I must be a minute or two behind as when i posted that, he knocked in the birdie about a minute later.

OK.... so he makes bogie and then hits a massive hook off the next tee! Maybe he will struggle to make the cut! He's a +1 and the cut is currently +2....

However, plenty of birdies to be had over the back 9.

And he'll need them...... that hook has resulted in a double bogey 6. Moves him to +3.

Looks like Poulter's decision to play on the PGA tour this week is paying off so far. Currently leading the Crowne Plaza.

Broke my driver this morning frown

Ping G15 - snapped about 4 inches above the head, on contact. A bit of Googling and it seems to be a regular occurrence on their G15 with TFC shaft.

I've dropped them an email to see what they say......

if they can't help I can have a new Driver smile

Anyone else keeping track of the BMW Championship at Wentworth? Chris Wood holing putts for fun! Cracking round of 68 to start.
wavey

Was there yesterday, missed his hole in one but saw it on the big screen.

My first time at a pro tournament. Followed Luiten and Garrido from the first to the fourteenth, stopped there for lunch (£8 for some fish and chips!) then picked up Quiros and Warren for the final four holes.

Seeing the pros hit the ball from close up is mightily, mightily impressive. You really don't get a sense of the difficulty and the distance from the tv. The Wentworth West Course is also a lot hillier than it looks on telly, I ache a bit this morning boxedin

Had a great round yesterday and managed to drop my French handicap from 18.1 to 16.6
The French system allows you to see how you are doing against all other players in France.
So you can see that i am proudly now the 78,714th best player in France out of 445737 players.
Not shown is that I am the 36th best player of 398 in our town.

Thinking of treating myself to some Ping G30 irons/woods. Anyone got any and would you recommend? I'm a high 24(ish) handicapper.

Always fancied a set of Pings!

After a slow start to the season where my h/c drifted up to 15 things came together on Sunday's competition and I came in with an 84 which gave me a net 69 and won it by 3 shots! The competition scratch came out at 73 for the day, so they lopped 1.2 off my h/c which means I'm now down to 13. The comp was one of our majors so I've finally got my name on the honours board. woohoo

Now looking forward to our annual trip to the North Wales GC festival at the weekend. smile

Put my first ever card in today. The club gave me a handicap of 54 as a starting point and I scored 44 points.

My game was absolutely awful today so I know I can do better for the next two. It's a start though!

Yes, that's a hell of a lot!!!

You should be pleased to know that you actually played to 46.....

If I had 54 shots on Saturday I would have scored 71 points!!!!

I'm quite ashamed to have played to 46 but I think the pressure of knowing that someone was officially keeping count messed with my head. I lost 5 balls, had several chips roll back to my feet and I lost count how many times I 3 putted.

But like I say, it's a start and everybody's got to start somewhere. So I'll take it and move onwards!

No offence taken! beer

I'm just pleased to be off the mark. I feel like a newly fledged sparrow. Shaky, but didn't hit the ground and avoided the neighbours cat! laugh
