If you can't find the Yonex it is an exact copy of the Wilson 8802, which is more available. The Wilson is nowhere near as soft however.
I do like the MP blades, very similar in looks to my Nikes, and if I had any spare cash at the mo I'd consider taking the 37's off you - suspect if I bought any new clubs right now I would be shot.
I could also be seriously talked into a set of Hogan Apex's from around the turn of the century, tried a set at uni and loved them, but when I came to buy them Hogan had pulled out, and the guy who designed the Apex's ended up at Nike, where he designed these:
One try and the driving range and I was hooked, and that was 11 years ago. Before that I had new irons pretty much every season, now, I wouldn't even consider it. Especially the 1-iron, which is useful on the tee, and great for spreading butter on bacon sandwiches after 9 holes
I do like the Nike blades and the lines of those are even more similar to the MP33s (which I'll also be selling if you fancy getting shot any time soon ) but I've never hit one and there's still a little part of me that can't accept Nike as a golf club maker just yet...although the more I read about 'The Oven' the more intrigued I am.I do like the MP blades, very similar in looks to my Nikes, and if I had any spare cash at the mo I'd consider taking the 37's off you - suspect if I bought any new clubs right now I would be shot.

I'd love a MP37 2 & 1 iron but as you say, other than for spreading butter or reminding you that your hands are definitely still attached to your arms as you thin one on a cold morning, they'd just sit there looking pretty...which is probably enough should I see some for sale...

They feel very similar to the old Hogan Apex, nicely weighted but with a lovely soft feel and they make it really easy to play a wide variety of shots. I think the lofts are quite weak I hit them 1-2 clubs shorter than other irons, but like the Hogans linked to earlier, they are more about accuracy than distance. I can see your skepticism towards Nike, as a lot of the early kit, apart from these blades, was a bit ho-hum. They seem to have hit a similar level to the Titleists and Taylor Mades of this world now in performance (if clearly not availability) - I found the Covert Driver to be particularly impressive.
I would definitely investigate the 1 and 2 iron if possible, as with a little practice, they are not too hard to hit at all (the Nikes anyway). The 2-iron is in my bag all year round, tend to save the 1 iron for the height of summer though
Anyone else in comps this weekend? Got our monthly medal at 8:48 tomorrow morning, and will as usual, be trying not to use up my entire handicap by the 4th.....
My irons are still delayed. However I collected my new wedges in my lesson Saturday. Didn't realise a good wedge would weigh so much but you really can feel the club head through impact. Worked on using them for on course scenarios.
Loved them both. Be interesting to see how they turn out seeing as they have a raw finish. Fyi I got the 52 and 58.

Chuffing hell! Mind you, he does play off of +4!My new found consistency continued at the weekend with a net 69 (83 gross). Including a nice eagle late in the round when I holed a pitching wedge for my second shot! That's my second time in the prizes since the start of the season and another shot off my handicap (actual is now down to 12.7). I put my better play down to a better (correct) grip and fixing the 'cupped' left hand that was a factor in big slices off the Tee. Both fixes were picked up from videos on Mark Crossfield's Youtube channel.
I had a lesson on Trackman on Saturday and made big changes to my swing to promote a more consistent ball-strike. the changes included, a slightly different posture, a slightly different right hand grip, a swing that feels much, much shorter (but on video is only slightly shorter) and a change to my takeaway (I was previously pulling the club back way behind me on the backswing).
These changes certainly made big changes to my ball-striking with the irons but it did re-introduce the slice that I worked hard to get rid of. I think I know the changes I need to make to sort that out but it's gonna require some work.
I played 9 holes a couple of hours after the lesson and that really highlighted that sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards. I've got a lot of work to do but the pro thinks I have the makings of a very good player if I can implement the changes successfully.
Back to the range.

Worked on my set up a little over the weekend in order to reduce my aoa. I was setting up with a way to vertical club at address. Now got the butt of the club pointing nicely at my left leg and its brought some changes straight away.
Also worked on knowing what a wedge is for and what a wedge can do.

Best round of the year for me came yesterday with a net 63 (Gross 77). Nothing close to the guy who hit 3 aces in a round but i was pleased. Managed a front 9 of 8 pars & 1 bogey. The back 9 fell apart a bit compared with the front and i came home in a seasons best of 77. Lovely conditions, even if the rough was waist height in some places! Think I've got a big cut coming my way after hitting 42 points off a 14 handicap. Although i do feel a little robbed, managed to 3 putt 3 times from within 20 feet, usually a bit more consistent than that.

Must have been a lucky weekend.
Played my best 9 ever. I play off 28 - and that's at a push.
After 8 holes was on 36 (par 31)
Shame I then carded a 9 on the last hole.
Still 28 points made me happy, and only ten over (45) which for me was something to be impressed with!
10 over playing off a 28 handicap is very good for 9 holes, especially as you had a 9 thrown in there!Played my best 9 ever. I play off 28 - and that's at a push.

If you look on the positive side for those 3 putts...it means you are capable of an even better round if you reduce them to regulation 2 putts!boxsey said:

This is true. Did walk off the 18th thinking i left a few out there, especially after being 1 over for the front 9. But more than happy with 6 under handicap overall. Put my card in today and i've been cut to 12.4...Gulp. Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
