"Hi - my name is Steven Finn. I'm a slot bowler, and I can't stop myself bowling medium pace balls right in the slot..."

Those are rather sobering numbers .... I wonder what he's thinking at the moment?

I didn't have high hopes of England coming into this tournament but it's looking like I overrated them!

That's over FOUR scored from every ball he bowled - just to top it all!

Pakistan have dropped about 4 simple catches here and another 2 half chances. The Windies are set for a decent total.

I even think Jos Buttler could become a Gilchrist type player and he ended up openging in the end I think in the shorter forms ...

Gilchrist had a very sound technique and often played as a batsman in NSW because Phil Emery was the 1st grade keeper for both Gordon & NSW, Gilly played for Gordon and had to wait behind Phil

Gilchrist also pretty much only played conventional cricket strokes, just hit them very hard and often

This is more like the Windies, a bit of swagger.

I think it was born from the fact when he can bowl very quick. Issue is he is not very accurate and therefore gets carted round the ground ALOT.

and then to make matters worse, he's lost some pace to help with the accuracy, but it hasn't changed the accuracy.

What we need is a bowling coach who actually knows his Onions.

Yes, knowing Onions really would help.

The thing is, even when we do have a reasonably capable one day bowler in the side, such as Ravi Bopara, we don't use him. 4 overs in 3 games or something. And then in the 4 overs he did get, we make him bowl short, when he looks most dangerous full or Yorker length.

It seems that the only bowling answer the team management has is broad / Anderson.

At least Finn isn't that tattooed tt Jade Dernbach!

Wiki says:

He has gone on to make 24 appearances for the ODI and 34 for the England t20 side.

As of 29 March 2014, Dernbach holds the unfortunate record of having both the worst career economy rate in ODI history for bowlers bowling 1000+ balls and also the worst career economy rate in T20I history for bowlers bowling 300+ balls

After Chris Gayle got out cheaply again yesterday a fan tweeted that Gayle should retire. And the WI cricket board president re-tweeted it. laugh

" KINGSTON, Jamaica – The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) today chided President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dave Cameron, for retweeting a ‘negative fan tweet’ directed at West Indies Cricket Player Chris Gayle.

The Association said in a news release saturday “that Mr Cameron’s re-tweet came in the middle of the West Indies team’s critical ICC (International Cricket Council) CWC (Cricket Wold Cup) game against Pakistan renders it even more unacceptable”.

"We denounce any such behaviour by any official of the WICB in any given circumstance," President and CEO of WIPA, Wavell Hinds said.

WIPA says it has written to the WICB requesting a full explanation."

If broad / Anderson break down for any reason who is the back up? Is there a succession plan ? England look way too reliant on them (especially Anderson who isn't getting any younger)

Can't rely on Broad for anything at the moment, he should be dropped, he is a disgrace. Batsman with a decent average getting out of the way of the relatively trundling pace of Southee. It is absurd. No fight.

Jimmy A is a difficult one, clearly he is a great test bowler, but in truth he has never been as good in ODI, and actually hasn't played ODI for a while. I think he lacks a bit of variety.

As said, why the hell isn't Bopara in this team, why are we picking Ballance, he is a test batsman.

Some shocking shocking management of the team. Moeen Ali is a number 7 not an opener.

What if Morkel & Steyn break down for SA, or Johnson & Starc for the crims for that matter?
Totally pointless scenario. Any of the top 6 teams would suffer tremendously if they lost their 2 strike bowlers rolleyes
