If broad / Anderson break down for any reason who is the back up? Is there a succession plan ? England look way too reliant on them (especially Anderson who isn't getting any younger)
Can't rely on Broad for anything at the moment, he should be dropped, he is a disgrace. Batsman with a decent average getting out of the way of the relatively trundling pace of Southee. It is absurd. No fight.

Jimmy A is a difficult one, clearly he is a great test bowler, but in truth he has never been as good in ODI, and actually hasn't played ODI for a while. I think he lacks a bit of variety.

As said, why the hell isn't Bopara in this team, why are we picking Ballance, he is a test batsman.

Some shocking shocking management of the team. Moeen Ali is a number 7 not an opener.
We had Bopara in the squad and played most games prior to the world cup then someone decided not to bowl him, and also that on the eve of our first game we should give Ballance a go. Brainless management.

It really is a pathetic mess. ECB need to sort this out ASAP.

So just to liven it up, which over do people think we'll lose our first wicket? I'm going for Ali in the 7th. smile

Moeen cracks 50 for 39, so a promising start. We do need a confidence builder.

I agree with bumble and beefy. There is a massive run rate deficit to overhaul here. They are playing against a lower level side and should be ttting them for 400 and skittling them for 150.

Credit to Scotland, but with a couple of exceptions that was pretty dire from England with the bat. They really need to go back out and skittle the Scots for 150.

Always good to see Ballance do so well after England decided they must need a Test batsman in at 3.

Glad we got a result though and it was a comfortable victory. Fall apart against Sri Lanka????

The most worrying thing for me is:
- people were actually worried that England might lose this match (and from what I could tell it wasn't fake)
- Scotland have absolutely nothing in the bowling locker to worry Engalnd...they had a spinner bowling at 45mph...45mph!!! He should have been carted everywhere.
- Even playing against such a crap bowling team England just broke the 300 run mark. Pathetic.
- I can't believe the management can't see how the ODI game has moved on but we are still picking test players, hoping they come good, rather than ODI specialists.

Batsmen are under pressure because we have a one-dimensional bowling attack and can't stem the flow of runs.
