I thought Australia were gone for all money after that truly crap batting - they deserved to lose.

They did lose, but what a comeback!

Never give up, never surrender.

NZ and Aus must have been watching the Scotland Afghan match and wanted to show the associates how to do it. Win, lose, win all in one match.

Great match.

India are coming on strong, they are the dark horses outside NZ OZ SA axis.

IVA Richards played in a different era, when the rules were different - 9 on the fence etc, the equipment was very different, there was only one ball etc. The game was totally different - it was 30 years ago ... look at football in the 80s and now.

You can't compare really. But if he was playing now he would have been at least as good as AB ... his eye, footwork and just talent was up there with the VERY best. And of course he was a top Test player - is AB - what's his Test average? No idea ...

Did your YT viewings track down his fastest 100 v Eng from the 80s?
Totally agree, it was harder for the batters in those days.

I wonder how Villiers would have done against Malcolm Marshal, Joel Garner and Michael Holding if he was playing in those days? Holding such a fluid action, Garner was all arms and Marshal was like a dynamo winding up. Nutz.

Modern bats have a massive hitting zone compared to the weapons of beefy or Viv.

I don't think villagers would be stepping across his stumps to ninety mile an hour balls on his toes or round his chin.

However he has such a natural eye, I am sure he would still find a way to score. After all Mtch J is proper quick and he still goes for plenty.

I saw Sri Lanka play New Zealand before the tournament started and I think they might just have a slightly better team than England. Not a huge gap either way however so it could be a good game.

Rubbish from Ballance. Early momentum lost, and gets out playing a nothing shot. Should never have been in the side.

32 off 3, 62 off 9 , 89 off 17 ... We never have any momentum ...

Couldn't believe we were unchanged for this game. Just dire.

Garbage innit. Went 6 overs without a boundary earlier. Are these guys not watching the other teams in the tournament? We are stinking the place out.

Yup stilllaying that whole, any score around 250 is enough game.

Boycs is right Morgan is batting too high and is feeling under pressure. He is trying to innings build. We have Bell, Ballance and Root for that job.

We need him to be the striker...

If you watched Aus v NZ yesterday, it was a nailbiter with both sides fighting to get 150, so 250 would have won that match easily. smile

Well that's a lovely little cameo from Buttler at the end. Great century from Root too so England have over 300 to defend. Alright in the end after a turgid start.

Hopefully wake up to the Lankans being skittled for 93 to help that net RR.

75-0 atm....

We did well at the end there although SL did fall apart to a certain extent. Could have scored 330-350 with a bit more oomph in those middle overs though ... Unless a ball is exceptional and you really have to fight to keep it out, we have to look to angle the bat and score more singles. The amount of length balls we played with a Straight bat right back down the wicket was too many ...
