Anyone ever been Mink hunting ?

king heartless.I personally wouldn't ever do a hunt that involved the dogs chasing down said animal and being allowed to attack/kill it.
That's not to say I'm against hunting...Would i stalk deer and shoot them? Sure, its a quick and painless death for the animal and I would definitely make sure the meat was used by either myself or it going to a local market.
Ask yourself if you would be comfortable to watch the dog catch and kill the mink. If you are, then go on the hunt. It'll definitely be an experience to do it.
Also, check the legality of the hunt before participating, didn't they make them illegal in the UK a few years ago?

It might help your case if you were to explain the method hunting, or not Mink are not native to this country but rather escapees from mink farms or have been 'freed' by animal rights people.

I agree though they are a pest that needs controlling as they do a lot of damge to UK species - particularly ground nesting birds and water voles. They are cute looking things though which won't help your case.
So you're asking if seeing live animals being torn apart by dogs is 'any good'?

I'm not sure if they are flushed out and shot or what.
I've seen plenty of traps whilst fishing but never an actual hunt, hence the question.

These days, as hunting with dogs is banned, the mink hunts go looking for rats, and if they find evidence of mink they will lay various traps for them as they go.
Occasionally the dogs may find a Mink of their own accord and kill it as that's what they are bred to do.
