This has just appeared on my farcebook feed. Richies crashed Sunbeam.

Good effort Sir, a posthumous entry to the Show Us Your Crash Pics thread?

I don't think he ever fully recovered from that crash it knocked him about pretty badly, certainly didn't pick up a mic again.

Hope his family agrees to the State Funeral - he deserves it ,although I guess the modest man would want to without fuss.RIP.

just enjoying Pater Allis probably a similar age to Ritchie and also has his own unique style before the PC brigade took over.
i think commentators who have played their game always have a great insight

Quite simply one of the 2 best sports commentators in my lifetime (the other being Bill McLaren)

I don't feel sad though - he had a fantastic life doing what he loved for 84 years and it seems no one had a bad word to say about him.

He introduced new generations to cricket & I suspect, although he would have been too modest to say it himself, that he is reflecting now on a job well done.

RIP
Funny, when I heard yesterday about Richie Benaud I immediately thought about Bill McLaren. The two greats have gone.

A big part of my life has passed and I feel strangely older than I did just 2 days ago.

maybe its just an age, Coleman and David Vine, all part of the great days of sport before money ruined it.

According to the chip wrappers on Sunday the family has said thanks but no thanks.
