Whoops! Another 5.56 Assault rifle calamity

Looks like The German Army will have to re-equip their Infantry. The H&K G36 loses accuracy, reliability and velocity when it gets hot. The German Defense Minister has stated they will have to acquire a new Assault rifle to replace it. Afghanistan has certainly shaken the tree regarding what equipment is suitable for the front line. The problem is that Most NATO armies will have to refresh their Assault rifles by 2025 and the calibre is up for a change as well. Leaves the Germans having to buy a stop gap. Makes the SA80 especially in it's latest L3/TES version look well engineered.

Surely if the G36 is that bad HK will have to recall in batches and fix it. Cant see the german government just rolling over when the G36 isn't up to the spec it was bought to.

HK have responded by saying that the German Military altered the spec after sale. They also should have bought the more expensive version.

isn't the 'simple' answer to just not give them any future government contracts?
