This is where England miss having a front line spinner. Ali is a good player to have in the team but he's no Graeme Swann.
It's ok we've got Root.

Terribly complacent cricket from the kiwis.

Had England 30/4 first innings - let them off the hook.

Were 300/2 and failed to close out the game.

Played like a team who don't know how to win tough games.

Well played England. What a game!
Great confidence builder for the Ashes. Just what they needed.

A satisfactory end. To come back from 30 - 4, and to beat a team that scored 532 in their first innings is a great achievement.

The shelves are also finished.

Drat missed the ending, looked like a draw with 5 wickets left! Have to watch on ch5 soon! Half of me wanted us to loose both matches so forced a major look at all parts of cricket but we'll done bowlers.

Moores sacked, we win a test match. Great performance and recovery from what looked like doom after the first few days.

I was lucky enough to be at lords today. The atmosphere was the best I have experienced at a match and the performance by England was positive. Stoke's over was athe best over I have witnessed and the road of the crowd when he got the two wickets in two balls was immense. What struck me was the fun the team were having and how relaxed they were.
Stokes and Wood really entertained the crowd going similar to Freddie. Wood tripping over a teamate tying his lace whilst running back to catch a ball and did a comical limp afterwards and of course his horse and Stokes doing and impressive acrobatics to get back to his feet after fielding a ball. Small things, but refreshing to see England players enjoy themselves rather than the serious, stressed body language recently.

Good result.

First innings was awful batting and bowling.

Let's see what happens at Headingley.

(Is Piers Morgan still bhing on Twitter? Wouldn't surprise me...)

Without specifically mentioning someone, I'm awfully glad some key England players performed well this test, this means people can move on and focus on the new boys. Well done for turning the game around, and well done NZ for helping produce a hugely entertaining game.

I was one of those that wanted KP back playing in the England side. The reason for that is I want to watch exciting cricket, and not watch our team bat at 3 or fewer an over and bore the other team senseless.

I also want to have a player, or players, in the team that are capable of winning a match in a session. On day 4 Stokes did what KP was able to do. Him scoring his hundred off 80 odd balls won that test match for England. If that had been scored like most of the other runs in the test it would have needed another 15-20 overs and England would most likely not have had enough time to bowl NZ out.

I don't know if it was the change in coach or the change in batting order but something was different in the midset of the players.

Personally I'd still have KP bat 4 instead of Bell and I also would quite like to see Hayles given a shake at the top too, but happy to see how things pan out over the summer.

Great match, great cricket, great spirit and sportsmanship.

Really warmed the heart for so many reasons.

Interesting analysis on the Sky Verdict programme that suggested that England's loss of their final second innings wickets happened at just the right time and a declaration might not have been similarly timed.
