Indeed the prospect of Willey caught Wood is an enticing one.

Are we even going to get to the modest 300 mark today ?

Buttler pretty crucial here.

Posting 300+ and losing, well I can kind of live with that. Should have been able to bat the 50 though.

Feels like we are still looking for a world class bowler for the ODI team. Need someone who can hold up an end, and keep the batsman down at 4 an over plus a couple of big wickets every innings. Think Malinga, Mourkel, Flintoff or Dernbach.

Honestly feels like we have made progress in building a side that plays a modern ODI style, No shame in losing to NZ they have a very effective ODI outfit, but we are at least competing with them.

Think we will win another one in this series.

Not sure Finn has got it these days. He is expensive and doesn't strike often enough to compensate.

Bowls too many slot balls, and doesn't seem to have a change of pace.

We need someone that can break established partnerships, or at least bring control.
Alderman, Fraser, McGrath - Ie not the absolute quickest, but very hard to play against. Finn just doesn't yet have that consistency.

Think Wood could yet prove to be quite effective in this format.

Agreed, much like the ECB we keep appointing one useless tosser after another.

Anyway, suspect the pitch may have a bit of juice as is traditional at Trent Bridge Hopefully some cheap early wickets.

Would love to see the Kiwis rebuilding after 2/3 go down in the first ten.

NZ looking good for your par score there...

Finn coming back and breaking a well set partnership, that is exactly his job as bowling leader. Nice work.

Decent few middle overs there from England.

Blimey is this really going to happen?

Some fantastic stuff, Finn and Wood really did the business with the ball. Morgan currently doing with the bat, a proper un analytical , played with passion performance.

I don't know about this. Lots of tears for bowler stats, but I watched an interesting piece on the C5 show last night.

It shoes three different ball release positions from Finn and Stokes, the cutter, a back of the hand release and a knuckle ball (scrambling the seam)

There are variations out there for good bowlers, I think Wood only went for 5 an over yesterday, so it is possible.

Black caps skip said, England scored 34 boundaries off too short bowling, so the case for better bowling is surely still in the hands of the bowlers ?

Rashid can hardly complain about being smashed for 28 off an over, they were utter pies, too short, no spin and lacking any kind of pace.

Less than five an over, what is going in ?

Seems a decent pitch, bowlers seem to be getting it right so far.

Still expect a 300 total though

Can someone please explain Duckworth fking Lewis to me? NZ score at 5 an over and we're given a shortened innings at 7 an over.

What the fk?
It is to do with wickets, so shortened innings, but we are unlikely To be bowled out, so we can fling the bat a bit more from the start.

I do agree though, looks a little steep and spoils the work done by the bowlers.

Well we need a miracle now. 10 an over.

5 wickets down.

Can't see it, but I think we have been hard done by in the two rain affected matches.

A very very impressive chase.

Well played NZ a real pleasure to play against such a great bunch of blokes.

Kudos to Morgan, really threw the shackles off the team, great stuff.

We stopped criticising players for going for their shots ....

I wonder if Bell is going to get back into the test side.

Anyone feel like taking a punt on Morgan at five instead ?

Yeah that is a shame. Harris has been a good player for Aus.

I see the pre Ashes war of words continues. Glenn shooting his mouth off again and a few others chirruping up.

Although why Jimmy A thought it would be a good idea to mention the spirit of the game, is quite beyond me.
