johnfm's gone very quiet.
Isn't he at the test? In any event, a good day's cricket for England.
Australia batted like they did in Cardiff. Not discipline at all. Clarke and Voges got great deliveries. Smith, Marsh, Warner and Johnson threw their wickets away. Neville showing them how test match batting works - you stay in when bowing side has their tail up.
Take nothing away from Finn. As I said before he bowled really well. He was gifted some wickets but he earned them with pressure.
Wicket has had not much to do with it really- there's just been a lack of grit, batsmen thinks every innings is a one day game.
England deservedly 2-1 with 2 to go.
Warne was talking about players with poor performances being dropped from the Aussie squad, regardless of who they are. Hussain (I think) asked "what about your good friend Michael Clarke?". All of a sudden Warne started umm-ing & ahh-ing & changed the subject. That was yesterday's highlight.

Not sure they will drop anybody (though Clarke is actually in a prolonged period of poor form) - the players are more than capable if they knuckle down and do their jobs. Not hard to bowl in the right areas. Aust bowlers didn't do what they practice every day of the year. Batsmen played very poor shots (other than Clarke and Voges). Both sides are surprisingly inconsistent from game to game.DJRC said:
spikey...we should have sorted ourselves out to bloody go!!! Tomorrow won't be worth it
So...Trent or the Oval? Its Hospitality only unless you want to risk a 5th day ticket - no chance!
£390 for Trent or £414 for the Oval... Anyone up for joining me?
You'll get a single ticket from a tout. There were loads available yesterday. Only struggle might be getting 2 next to eachother.So...Trent or the Oval? Its Hospitality only unless you want to risk a 5th day ticket - no chance!

I think you have a point. Looking at their squad, they could only really drop Clarke & Voges for Watson, Haddin or lesser Marsh.
I don't I'd drop Voges. He clearly can make runs - just hasn't done so here yet. His time will come and if not, he will be dropped. But I expect selectors will stick with him for at least this series and the next.Clarke will retire if he doesn't make a score this series i expect.
Watson - can't see him playing test cricket again. Not done enough with bat or ball when needed, and there are no points for having 'potential' when you've had years to try to convert potential into big scores.
Australia just need to show a bit more respect for the conditions - Smith and Johnson trying to play a pull shot without even looking at what sort of bounce Finn might extract was simply careless. There is merit in trying to dominate a bowler or stopping them dictating the game - but you don't do it from their first ball.
The game is about doing the basics well and then adding to that. Get the basics wrong (with bat or ball) and you lose.

Anderson out for Trent Bridge. That's a boost for the crims. Bugger!
I thought he would. I saw him pull up after the ball to Johnson. Said to my cousin Anderson is hurt. Side strain can be a real problem - can take weeks to get back to normal - though probably quicker with all the treatment availabel to a pro.DJRC said:
