Looks like I'm not going to be able to go next week due to work problems....

Anyway want a day 1 ticket for face value? Block 37, Row B.

If this breaks PH rules, of course remove!
Which day?
Day 1 by the looks of it wink
Ah, I read it as '1 ticket' rather than 'day 1 ticket'.

Its 1 ticket for day 1.

re: Trott - I've a different theory that I've had for a long time. His crease antics have always attracted attention and comment but mostly humorous. I've always seen it as a guy expending massive nervous energy and mentally wound up way past healthy. I only have this view as it's something it's taken my wife telling me to stop doing 101 physical tics, tells, movements I do with my fingers, hands, legs, feet whenever I'm worrying or thinking way too obsessively about something (most of the time). Trott had been a ticking bomb for yrs, he was never going to have a long international career.
As someone who could fire a ball down rather sharpish when I was in my prime I would have fancied myself against Trott, his method was to walk across the stumps and knock it down on the leg unless it was well wide of off which works OK for RH over.

Made to measure for MJ or indeed anyone coming from that side of the stumps at decent pace, the object of a bowlers game at any level apart from getting him out is to make a batsman feel inadequate and unable to compete.

RH round at the same pace and line would be worse because the angles are even harder to deal with when the ball is short.

So with no alternative plan to score with the ball coming from leg to off rising into the armpit showed up a glaring shortcoming in his technique and because he was the best of a poor bunch at that position he kept getting picked and knocked down.

Matt Hayden was the same with the rising ball outside off but overcame that by playing well out of his crease so he could either belt it or let it go.

Most at that level aspire to greatness but not all achieve it and Trott was amongst the latter, KP was let down by his ego rather than his ability.

Warner struggled against Derbyshire. Shoddy strike rate.

Clarke continues to fail dismally. He really should consider dropping himself if he doesn't come good with the bat.

On the bright side, at least it wasn't a day 5 ticket. We'll be 2-1 up by day 4...

Right. Ticket bought.

There on Thursday. Always prefer day 2 - most likely to see a bit of both sides batting. If we win the toss and bat, should see the end of our innings and the famous 30-4. If you bat first I hope to see us bowling ( well, I hope so, though it does require England to survive 90 overs). I think I'd prefer to watch us bowl than bat. Much more spectacle.

Long range forecast suggests no rain- so hopefully a full day's cricket.

Going to be there for the first two days. Bit of a pilgrimage for me as my dearly departed Grandpa used to play for Warwickshire.

Here's hoping for a spicier wicket.

Nice one. Long range weather forecast suggests sunshine.

Should be good.

Anyone watching the women's ashes? 3d ODI on SKY today. Non stop action with near run outs and some optimistic stroke play.

Weather forecast still looks OK.

Aussies are sticking with the new keeper Nevill - good decision really. Time for a change of guard, given Haddin was probably on his last series anyway.

Will all boil down to the wicket as to whether the Aussies win a low scoring match or hand out another demolition.

Maybe England's top order will turn up?

Who knows.

Good one.

Did you see we've knicked some confiscated cannabis growing lights from West Mercia Constabulary in order to toast the wicket? Mitch will be rubbing his hands!

Good to see the Australian women following the men and cleaning up the ODI, taking a slight lead in the series.

Tough for Haddin though, making him self unavailable because his daughter was ill, and then getting dropped when his replacement does better than him. That's probably the end for him now.

It is - but Aussie selectors aren't often sentimental. They usually give blokes a proper go, but don't mess about when their time is up.

Haddin is a tough cookie - and he might choose to hang around like he did when Wade displaced him for 10 tests.

I assume it is the really green strip second from the end on the right.

The risk now is that they prep a green seamer with life. You bowl us out for 230 and we then use those conditions to run through you for less.

I just want to see us bowling at you on day 2.

That would be sensational if both sides have been bowled out in the first and the soap shy start their second innings 150 behind biggrin

I would prefer to see us bowling - so, if we win toss and bat first that means getting skittled within 90-120 overs. If the Poms bat first, I'd like them to last more than 37 overs, as I want to see us bowling at them when I am there on day 2.

I would like to see England bat first, bang up 400 and then bowl Australia out twice on the second day. Fancy that John?

Unlikely. If England manage 400 it will take them 130 overs or so. You'd need to bowl Aus out twice in 50 overs.
Only one team out of the two unable to make it to 40 overs in this series...

Still 1 - 1

MJ presently worrying about how to combat the new threat at number 3, in his second over.
