Just over a week to go now , bloody love it.

Fantastic podcast with, Aggers, Vaughan, Freddie, Hoggy & Gary Pratt reliving the 2005 Ashes series . Really gets you up & ready for another summer of battle with the old enemy.

Rashid in the squad, do you reckon, with the weather recently they will play 2 spinners in place of Ballance?

Agree. This one. A thread for the Ashes. Not some mish mash thread with kiwis and one day games and st like that.

This should be a lot closer than the 5-0 score line from last time - unless the heat continues. If there's no green tracks and damp conditions I think Jimmy and the also rans will struggle.

Hard one to call, Lancashire got one upon Yorkshire tonight at Old Trafford in a 20/20 by playing their spinners, admittedly it was only by 29 runs.

I'm super excited for this Ashes series, can't wait.

I'd be utterly delighted to see England win this one.

Ditto.

Am off to The Oval for days 1 and 4 and very much looking forward to it (though I prefer watching at Lords generally).

England's bowlers are going to be the key. If they perform well, it could be a great Ashes for the English. If not, I suspect we're going to struggle...

I'm really looking forward to it. Really enjoyed the build up on radio as well, some great shows. The Art of Captaincy with Vaughan and Brearley in particular was very interesting.

Lets be honest there are only two cricket matches that matter...Eng v Aus and Lancs v Yorks. Everybody else are just minor counties smile

A really difficult series to call for me. Both sides seem to have a reasonably solid batting line up. Neither side have a world class spinner. They both have two good seamers (Jimmy and Broad + Johnson and Starc) however the 3rd seamer position for both teams isn't quite settled. Think we'll see lots and lots of runs this summer.

I'm not too sure on that England batting line up.

An opener who has only played in 2 tests
A number 3 who currenty only looks capable of playing french cricket
A number 4 who is in a horrific run of form that is also affecting his slip fielding
