Awwww. I know nothing about horses but as a layman it always strikes me they are put down too easily.

You don't put down the greatest of all time easily.

Most ppl don't know too much about horses, so most probably have no idea but just to be clear - Kauto was the greatest steeplechaser there has been . The irony being that he couldn't jump for st for most of his career but had more speed than most flat horses and simply had more heart than anything else on 4 legs.

No horse regains the Gold Cup. It just isn't done and it's never been done. Not by Arkle, Dessie or the rest.

Kauto did. And not against some piss arse weak field but against his arch rival Denman who had stripped Kauto of his crown and was regarded as the strongest bugger around - Kauto mullared him.

The horse who became the GOAT.

Damp eyes today frown

I heard about this today and admit I know nothing about horses. Is it standard practice to put the horse down?

Seems a crying shame to a see it end so sadly.

Listen to the crowd. You will never hear a crowd like that again as he goes over the last 2 fences.

They talk of Arkle, they talk of Rum. Kauto will be talked of in 50, 100 yrs time. That damn good.
