I find it staggering that someone with furys resources, would get caught out by juicing with Deca (nandrolone). Surely he'd have someone on board that would be planning this all out and have him on something like testosterone proprionate, which would be in and out in a day.

Passing these tests is a separate science, clearly one they havent mastered.

Pulling the mental card out might buy him a bit more time.

Imagine joe Frazier or George foreman coming up with the same excuse and saying they're not appreciated. Ali effectively turned countries against these guys.. All they wanted to do was pummel him inside a boxing ring.

I think the whole klitschko fury thing has been fishy all along. I never liked klitschko having a politically exposed member of his corner, and lots of bizarre betting came out of the Ukraine.
I agree. I personally feel that juicing is rife in all competitive sports in one form or another. The difference in those that get caught and those that don't does not boil down to people who take them and those who don't - moreover those that are better able to cheat the test or avoid detection.

Genuine question pal....what makes you say exposed?.. assuming you're talking about vitali?...he's long been a campaigner for exposure of corruption in Ukraine and has been very vocal since the orange revolution about his desire for transparency and democracy in ukranian politics
When i say exposed, that is a term used to describe political involvement. Typically people who are politically exposed are segregated from activities that are easily open to corruption. Vitali has always made it clear his aim is to be president of the ukraine. Successful political campaigns require large amounts of funding.

He is staunchly against Putin, patriotic of the ukraine and is happy to defend his country. Obviously defence again requires funding.. something the ukraine isn't coming down in. Add to that the large amounts of money at the very last minute being placed by people from the ukraine (to the tune of 20 million) for klitschko to lose, you can see how quite easily there was an opportunity for manipulation.

The other thing i found surprising was his attitude after the fight in news conferences "we lost, we'll win it back" with a wry smile on his face.. very different to the previous losses.

As for fury failed drug test, I have no idea why they even bother testing when Lucas Browne was identified as having Clenbuterol in his system, and given a six month suspension.. he probably had a six month break planned any way lol
Oh mate, I don't think you realise what you've done here. Tuscaneer's 'admiration' for the brothers is hardly a secret, so when you used the words 'Klitschko' and 'exposed member' in the same sentence... hehe

That's precisely it. As I've mentioned on the wiggins thread times haven't fallen, and physiques haven't changed due to better running shoes, better diets blah blah blah.

But it seems the general public don't want to except it. Vitali even got caught prior to an olympics if I remember correctly.

I too am a big fan. I prefer vitali's style, which involves boxing, rather than wladimirs steward trained "hugging" technique. They might be slightly boring but carry themselves well, dedicate themselves, and don't talk utter nonsense.

Vladimir or anyone else juicing is an entirely reasonable suspicion and why the do drugs testing, the idea he threw the Fury fight as part of some huge gambling coup is absurd in my opinion.

I don't dispute it's a bit tin hat, but after reading it and thinking about it more anything is possible. Never dismiss the power of crazy.

ah, got you pal!! ....has the betting surge been verified anywhere or is it hearsay?...does seem a bit far fetched for such a proud geezer as wladimir to take a dive

I think it's all hearsay as I doubt the real figures will ever be revealed.

I'm really disappointed as I wanted wladimir to beat him convincingly and retire.

Well, nobody was more gutted than me pal.....I've follow both klitschkos careers for the last 20 years and more...back to their amateur days...but I'll say this...The fury loss will be viewed by historians as a slip up on wladimir's part I think. Whichever way you cut it both brothers have been so dominant for so long they( particularly wlad) will go down in history with the Louis's, Lewis's, Ali's and marciano's......I don't think fury ever will

I saw Hearn was talking about it earlier, but he talks about a lot of things.... is it confirmed?

Suggestions are that financials are agreed but they still need sanctioning body approval. Personally, I'd be surprised if this was an issue but I think what they essentially need - as things currently stand - is for both the IBF and WBA to conclude that the fight would count as a unification despite one of the fighters not actually being a world champion...as otherwise it could potentially end up as a non-title fight, which probably appeals to neither fighter.

Why this is an issue is because, for some reason or other, Klitschko isn't ranked by the IBF (Joshua isn't ranked by the WBA either but that is standard - reigning champions don't hold rankings with other sanctioning bodies). What I think that means is that if one or other sanctioning body refuses to recognise it as a unification fight, there isn't a presently basis for making the fight for just one or other belt either. For example, let's say the IBF concludes that it can't be a unification fight because Klitschko isn't world champion...so they won't sanction it as such. The fighters can't then just say, "Okay, we'll just fight for the WBA title then" because Joshua isn't ranked in the top 15 with the WBA - only by virtue of unifying his IBF belt with them could he fight for the WBA strap. Similarly, they couldn't just make it for the IBF title either as Klitschko isn't ranked with them...

However, in the real world, I'd be surprised if either sanctioning body wanted to stand in the way of the fight and, even if one did, chances are the other would allow their arm to be twisted into giving a suitable ranking to enable the fight to be for their strap only. Consequently, I'd be very surprised if the stance of the sanctioning bodies stopped this fight going ahead...

Yep, people have to realise this is heavyweight professional boxing, I would be surprised if there was anyone clean inside the world top 20.

Turn a blind eye or ruin the sport forever - there really is no other alternative.

Another really exciting fight announced...

http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/vasyl-lomachenko-w...

Would have loved to see Lomachencko vs Rigondeaux but, with the former's move up to Super-Featherweight, that now looks remote...but this isn't too bad a consolation prize!

Think you need to re-read that with a bit more of a 'Finbarr Saunders' perspective wink
