.......and by having periods of the fight where he was outboxed i have a different opinion of how the kovalev/ward fight will go down........as long as he's not too big for ward i can see ward outpointing him based on last night
Ward will make Kovalev look like the basic 1-2 fighter he is.Artur Beterbiev, when fully fit, is going to be a much bigger test for Ward.
Looks like my hero's return is gaining traction

Not sure about the real deal regards Wilder. Unorthodox style against a very static opponent who was walking onto punches all night. The sort of opponent made for a tall rangey fighter, didn't have to defend much and could hide behind his reach pawing Arreola away most of the night. I'm not sure we learnt all that much.
He can't approach a fight with Joshua like that or Fury for that matter. I still don't think we've really seen Wilder tested, he put away an opponent who was not going to hurt him and didn't appear to have much of a game plan to deal with him.

Bad right hand or not.....fight like that against povetkin and he's going to sleep. And now sasha has been exonerated of any wrong doing wilder has to fight him next. Expect the wbc title to change hands I think
It'll be a very interesting fight to see, after watching Wilder at the weekend I have to agree, he's not half as good as he thinks he is and his jab is not ad fast as Haye or Joshua, the low hands might disguise it but anyone good will be able to get out the way with seconds to spare. Areola is obviously tough as old boots but didn't do anything to remotely trouble Wilder. But Wilder is big and those clubbing left hooks to body and head might not look massively well executed or neat but I expect they hurt.FredClogs said:

i've no doubt he punches like a mule kick....if he connects. the shot he knocked out szpilka with was superb...but these winging haymakers would leave him badly exposed to haye/povetkin/fury/wladimir and i would also say even joshua at this point. joshua in a couple of years could be fantastic but even now his straight shots would cause havoc against wilder who so often looks off balance,,,,,which is why haye dropped him hard with a jab in that famous youtube footage of their sparThis is the second time Wilder has required surgery on his right hand. I do wonder if it's going to seriously impact his career. If he's out of the ring for the remainder of 2016, then has a couple of easy come back fights in 2017, the chance of him facing Povetkin are probably small.
His best bet is probably just to look for a big retirement cheque/fight in 2017.
Also leaves Povetkin in a spot, at 36 he can't really wait around for Wilder so he'll need to start chasing after Fury or Joshua. The division is now looking a little thin.
1. Fury - What's going on with the story about a failed drugs test?
2. Klitschko - If he doesn't beat Fury comfortably I'd guess he'll retire.
3. Wilder - Injury issues are likely to keep him out of big fights for a significant period

Well the Jazza Dickinson vs Rigondeaux was a bit of a let down, poor Jazza, that left hand of Rigo's is always cocked to go off though and I don't think his corner fancied it at all after the first two rounds... Here's Rigo doing some pad work, Cuban style...
