This is what boxing does to you, time and time again we convince ourselves that all it takes is one punch, one clever tactical insight, one show of unimaginable bravery and the underdog can come through, memories of that last Crolla fight, Calzaghe Vs Lacy, Hatton Vs Tzu, The Rumble in the Jungle and all the other great boxing stories - sadly in this instance I think a hope is all we have, nevertheless I'll be glued to my telly saturday night. To be honest Kell Brook doesn't speak like a man who has a great deal of confidence in himself from what I've seen of the build up.
Look, I am 100% confident - I repeat, 100% CONFIDENT - that Kell will step in the ring on Saturday night as prepared physically, mentally and emotionally as he has ever been, and that he will have complete and unwavering belief in himself and his ability to upset the odds and secure the most famous of victories on his career-defining night...

...but I must admit, the photo a few days ago of him holding the certificate confirming he'd passed his drugs test did have the vaguest hint of, "I'm smiling...but it really wouldn't have broken my heart if this one had gone against me" about it!

Bless him, he's not the sharpest of knives in the drawer, that much I have also gathered from his media in the build up to this fight. I do hope we see him and Khan get it on next year as well, at Super Welter maybe, that one will be electric and he certainly deserves a big win, I just think Golokin's mystique and the amount of respect Kell is giving him won't work in Kell's favour.

There's a lot of clips on youtube of the open session today, got to say Kell looks super quick... I know we shouldn't read too much into these open sessions.

But... take a look where his chin is, then look at Golovkin on the mits, there is no way Kell is going to get away with hanging his chin out like that for rounds, no matter how fast he is, the body shots will draw his hands down and it'll be lights out, before round 3.

The interview with Naz is mildly amusing, Naz told Kell to watch Leanord vs Hagler 10 times apparently, I'm settling in with a bowl of pasta and a green tea to watch it.

Couldn't believe the state of Naseem Hamed today. Not seen him for years, so was a bit of a shock!

Come on, be fair, you've made a few 10s of £million, you're retired and one of the best pound for pound fighters of all time, how long are you going to hang around at under 9st ?

No need to aim for 19st though.

Ha ha, he's not fat he's just too short for his weight. Actually I think he may have dropped a bit over the last few years, there's pictures of him in a tracksuit after he did his little stint at HMP where he looks like an extra from the sopranos.

Just a few days to go now..haven't been this excited for a fight in years!

As much as I would love to see Kell cause one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history I don't see it happening, and I am a big fan of Kell's and think at welterweight he has the ability to beat any fighter in the world and do it convincingly too.

He has put on the muscle very easily, I remember a pic of him from around 2 weeks ago his arms and shoulders looked absolutely huge, however GGG is a superior boxer with punching power Kell has never had to deal with and can not match.

This will decide the fight IMO.

Just watched Leonard vs Hagler. 3 things... Kell is good but he's not Sugar Ray and frankly Hagler was worse than I remember in that fight, also Joan Collins sitting ringside...!? Those were the golden years for sure.

I paid £15 for David Haye vs Audley Harrison, how stupid am I? And as I remember it there was virtually no under card. You've not been ripped off until you've been David Haye ripped off.

Me too. At least Haye threw punches though. Harrison was pathetic. Had his purse withheld as a result.

Agree with that - David Haye did everything he needed to do. Of course, the argument gets made that it was Haye's fault for picking an opponent as meek and non-threatening as Harrison...which ignores the fact that he got the shot off the back of winning the European title in a display of courage and determination; fighting pretty much the entire contest one-handed (tore his pectoral somewhere around the 2nd from what I remember) and, despite being way behind on the cards and running on fumes, hanging on in there and trying to land that one-in-a-million shot, which he duly did half-way through the final round...great shot it was too!

But I agree with Fred; as any fight has the potential to disappoint, it's imperative that there's a decent undercard to help offset that risk. It's just unfortunate that, as Bob Arum (I think) pointed out after the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, the quality of the undercard generally makes f-all difference to the number of PPV buys, so why waste money on it? Consequently, that practice is likely to continue to happen, though thankfully it doesn't seem to be the attitude Matchroom has to events like this...

I'm a fan of Brook, feel he's had a rough time opponent wise through no fault of his own.

I too am interested to see what could happen, more than what likely will happen.

Worth remembering it's boxing and the improbable can still happen, hence our interest in such matchups.

I've been offered another 2 tickets for GGG v Brook. Dont need them myself, but can put you in touch with the vendor if anyone here is interested. No profiteering. Good seats of £300 face value each so £600 all in.
