He actually died in the boxing ring. But as a referee. Apparently he had a massive heart attack. What a fighter

yeah, superb fighter pal. I'm almost embarrassed that it's taken me this long to get a piece of his. I think the fact he died young, and unexpectedly, has kept the prices for his signature high. I certainly haven't come across too many of his pieces for sale....and I bargained a good price on that item so had to have it really

Heads-up...as well as Canelo vs Smith this weekend, there's a Live Fight Night International on Sky Sports 2 at 9.30pm Saturday night. When I checked the planner this morning, there wasn't actually any info on which bouts were featured but I've found out it will be Usyk vs Glowacki for the WBO Cruiserweight title. As discussed on here a few weeks back, Usyk definitely looks like one to watch while Glowacki has some calibre too, having won the belt from Marco Huck; so maybe worth tuning in...

Thanks for the heads up... Just tuning in. Anyone know what time Liam and Canelo will be on?

Cheers.

Good fight this. Usyk has the best feet I've seen in a while, he just glides around the ring.

He looked great. Brilliant movement and punch variation which he kept going right the way through the fight.

Can he do it against someone with more boxing ability?

So after that performance with Alvarez then it can only go one way now. GGG fights BJS and (presumably) wins the unification. Then its time for a super PPV megafight with GGG and SCA

Now that will be one hell of a match up - two boxers that like to come forward and fight.

Although I'm pretty sure team Canelo will have watched the GGG-Brook fight with interest, I don't think they'll be in any particular rush to make that fight. Alvarez has successfully returned to Light-Middle now, both in terms of being able to make the weight comfortably enough to perform to the level he did last night, and with his popularity intact (as drawing a crowd of over 50,000 to see him fight an essentially unrecognised fighter - no disrespect to Smith - evidences). They've now got some interesting big-fight options at 154lbs; unification rematch with Lara, a 'yardstick' fight with Brook, maybe one or two options with Welterweights stepping up (e.g. Bradley) etc. Meanwhile, GGG has a couple of match-ups to keep him occupied for a while as well; neither as big as a fight as Canelo (or even Brook for that matter), but there's the unification with BJS as you say, and the WBA 'unification' with Daniel Jacobs - and no doubt team Canelo would be interested observers once again. Long story short, my guess would be back end of 2017 at the earliest for Canelo-GGG, but I do think it will happen eventually...

Delahoya has said they have offered ggg for next September I think they are trying to wait it out so that age plays a part as Canelo is entering his prime years and ggg is leaving his.

Canelos team is saying that they offered GGG the fight and he turned it down, fk knows what's happening but this fight HAS to happen otherwise its gonna be such a massive let down for boxing fans.

Anyone watch Oleksandr Usyk? Could be a future star in the making. Johnny Nelson saying that Wladimir Klitschko had a lot of respect for him in sparring.

I thought that was a really great fight; don't forget, Glowacki was no mug, having just beaten two of the best Cruiserweight of the last decade in Huck and Cunningham.

What I'm really excited about is I feel Usyk has the potential to be the first Eastern bloc fighter to properly 'land' with the 'Western' fans. Not only does he appear to have a bit of personality and swagger (stupid example, but we've talked on here before about Usyk's off-the-wall haircuts - compare and contrast to the function-over-form styles of the Klitschkos and Kovalev, or the Bank Manager-esque side-partings favoured by Golovkin and Lomachenko!) but his style looks more natural and flowing than drilled and calculated - again, something that has maybe prevented the afformentioned fighters becoming as loved as they are respected (outside of the afficionados).

The only constraint I can see on that (other than the language barrier; not sure if Usyk speaks English) is he's in an unheralded division and success is far from guaranteed in the Land of the Giants should he step up to Heavyweight (which he's very likely to do sooner or later)...

.
I call BS, he was the mandatory, but Canelo relinquished his belt to avoid fighting GGG. I fully understand the people behind the fighters want to milk the most money out of the public, but its simply getting stupid now. Unfortunately Mayweather set a template for fighters and others are simply following it.

For me theirs only one person benefiting by dodging at this stage at that's Canelo. Part of me would like to see GGG simply get all the belts he wants and then retire. Then publishing the no doubt countless paper works showing his team trying to make the fight with Canelo, with Canelo obviously dodging the showdown.
Far to easy in this internet age to make comments in the public eye, whilst doing the opposite behind the scenes.

Interesting that Smith stated that Canelo doesn't hit that hard, but is very accurate.
I imagine that would be something GGG would have been happy to hear.

Brook said something similar about GGG, but he broke your eye socket Kell ? Also Stevens said similar..but the famous video of his expression when GGG put him down tells a different story.

On Stevens, there has been talk of him facing CEJ but was turned down, this is the sort of fighter, along with Lemieux, that CEJ should be taking on if he wants to have a chance with GGG.

Just on the Usyk Glowacki fight - did anybody else think that Glowacki's gloves looked noticeably smaller than Usyk's? I'm sure they weren't but the impression I had was they looked at least 2oz lighter, maybe 4oz. Not the best photo I know, but you sort of get the impression from it...maybe it was the red side seams creating a bit of a visual illusion...

The final bodyshot was a sickener. Savage. Liam put up a decent fight I thought, but was simply overpowered.

The body shots seemed to disappear for a long time but now they are back and they are so effective and painful.
