I am biased in as much as I have never been a fan of Wlad- boxing wise or personality wise, so perhaps that is clouding my judgement a bit but even so, I am convinced he has no chance in 2017.

Why?

Simple really, his time in the ring is up he has 1 maybe 2 fights in him at very most at 41 next year, he is the past and AJ is the future. Against a average boxer, yes he has a chance, against someone of AJ's size and strength, no chance. I don't read anything into old sparring sessions as part of training camp 2-3 years ago- it was 2-3 years ago!

Against a smaller and far less powerful boxer for example parker or pulev Wlad could use his size to an advantage and lean on them, push them back, clinch, buy himself time and try to just outscore them in a close points decision knowing his opponent is unlikely to knock him out.

Against AJ, when that first right hook smashes into his face, backs him up and makes him wince in pain he will try to do some of the above (the first part) but AJ is too big, it won't work and any punches he throws will just open him up for more punishment. Unlike Fury AJ can knock him out, and I believe will although it will take him 9-10 rounds to do so. A 41 year old boxers body has taken a lot of abuse and pain over the years, I am certain this is a step too far for him.

I agree with the point you make regarding AJ- and have made a few of them before myself. For me his biggest problem is his poor head movement and his very orthodox, almost textbook style of boxing. There doesn't seem to be a lot of movement or though in to it, very good hands but not great feet and I agree too much reliance on his power.

Not so fast, my friend. Sonny Liston was famous for his skipping routine to James Brown's 'Night Train' - I'd wager 'Strictly...' would have been right up his street!
ha!!! i'd wager you'd never see a scowling liston taking st from that revil horwood ttlaugh
Can you imagine?! Especially if he called him 'darling' in that condescending tone of voice... hehe

AJ certainly looks well equipped to be a champion and I'd fancy him to beat Wlad now regardless of when it takes place. His record is impressive, the list of those he has beaten (easily) not so impressive.

Oh no... David price.

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/37728402

Three reasons why he shouldn't fight Joshua.

1. https://youtu.be/uOX6w572ItQ

2. https://youtu.be/WBSnLDS5vcs

3. https://youtu.be/62Vek18KlRI

In the last link above he's blown away by a milk jelly. He shouts foul that these guys were juiced, but Thompson tested for a high blood pressure/hyper tension Med and I believe Thompson when he said he's been prescribed it for high blood pressure for years. Both of the above opponents were not supreme athletes

Its worrying fighters like price are surrounded by leeches which are encouraging him to get back in the ring with people that could really injur him.

Kinda have to disagree
Apart from the fact that he seems to have the proverbial glass chin,He is actually a good technical fighter
Shame really.

The amateur ring was good for him, because as you say he is technically very good. I don't think it's translated well in his pro bouts as when he's faced people with real fighting ability and killer instinct he ends up in trouble.

Probably so but does that not apply to a lot of fighters,
Price was very good as an amateur and as a pro but just couldn`t take a punch
as I said Shame really.
If it comes off, My money`s on Klitschko.

Couple of good fights last night on CH5, Andrew Selby and Josh Taylor definitely looking to be on the right track.

Selby is so slick, one of the best boxers I've watched in a while. Watched a few of his amateur fights as he trains locally to me. Biggest issue is he can get bored in the ring if he is fighting someone with less ability than him, he can get a bit sloppy.

Interesting...can't help but notice in amongst that lot that Frank Warren is being rather nice to David Haye. Deal with BoxNation being negotiated by any chance...?!

Gavin Eggington was superb, great fight all round.

Gavin has undoubtedly brilliant levels of skill, but he's operating at least a stone over where he should be and that's a shame.

Eggington is tough, but there's no way he should have been walking through what Gavin was hitting him with, but fair play, he did...and won well in the end.

Ogogo needs to re-evaluate.....poor performance, bettered in every department frown

It's funny, isn't it? In losing to someone who is - at this moment in time at least - a domestic-level fighter in what was expected to be (if it happened) a career-ending loss, most commentators have concluded it was Frankie Gavin's best professional performance to date and, fighting like that, if he could get down to Light-Welterweight and behave like a consummate pro outside of the ring, he'd be in with a great opportunity of getting to the top! Sadly, there's been little to date to give any confidence that he's got the necessary dedication to make that happen and, at 31 years of age, that window of opportunity is starting to close anyway...

Ogogo was disappointing, but that eye certainly didn't look right. I hope there is still some future for him but you just have to wonder if all the injuries have robbed him of those oh-so-important learning fights and gym-time needed to transition him from being a talented amateur into being a top-level pro. At 27 he still has time, but it is certainly starting to tick on...

Honestly, five (FIVE!) points deducted in the fight...and the ref was being bloody lenient!!! No exaggeration, both men could have been disqualified a half a dozen times each...

Reports that Klitschko has picked up a minor injury so won't be able to fight on 10th Dec.

They're mentioning in the commentary that Jamie Cox has been talked of in terms of world level bouts with De-Gale and Groves and the like, certainly did himself no favours there, understandably frustrated by a hard chinned spoiler but blimey there's no excuse for using the head like that.
