never gonna happen mate...it's just to keep his name in the papers. he told me categorically that there was no way he could boil down past the super middle limit....and ggg has got a fair bit of unfinished business at middleweight yet.
When did you get an opportunity to ask him that?! I don't recall you mentioning that Carl Froch was a personal acquaintance of yours, so I can only surmise there must have been some 'meet & greet' type event that you attended, of which the broader PH boxing community were unaware, and not alerted to! I know; the notion that you would treat your fellow enthusiasts so shabbily is verging on the preposterous...but, try as I might, I can't think of any other explanation that fits the evidence so well...

Good point. Out of interest, how many people do you think that venue could hold, were such an event to take place there?!

If you could arrange to do that at your place of work, you might make a few quid out of it as well...! wink

No chance. If Mayweather and Pacquiao can only get 16000 for the biggest fight on the planet, there's no way anyone could pull in those type of numbers.

If there was, we'd have heard about it.

Indeed. I bet even Mayweather himself would have heard about it too

What's left for GGG at middleweight? Alvarez has said he won't fight GGG at middleweight (because he knows he'll get beaten) so that only leaves Cotto. I'd have like to have seen GGG v Andre Ward but it looks like Ward is moving up to light heavyweight. Ward has size on his side and may well be at least as good a boxer as GGG.

Froch due to his size might be able to handle GGG but I wouldn't bet on it.

froch hasn't thrown a punch in 18 months and by the time golovkin has either beaten the winner of cotto/canelo or been awarded that belt by default after one of them is stripped( wbc have stated this will happen apparently) he then has the winner of lee/saunders to contend with on his quest for unification.

that little lot^^^^ will easily take 12 months+ and in the meantime he will also have wba/ibf mandatories to honour.

the winner of jacobs/quillan will be a great fight for him and also appearing high up in a few of the rankings is eamon o'kane but more importantly.....chris eubank jr!!....if eddie could coax golovkin to the uk that would be a massive fight.......

froch might have died of old age by the time all that lot has played out!

Enzo Maccarinelli has signed to fight Roy Jones Jr in December in Moscow. You could argue the two former world champions should be enjoying their retirements now rather than getting in the ring again but, in itself, nothing particularly remarkable about the match-up...

...only, apparently it's been announced that it's going to be for the WBA World Cruiserweight title!!! And not just any old WBA version of the belt (and, as we know, the WBA do like a version or two...or three...); it's for the 'Super' version of the title!!!

http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/roy-jones-jnr-will...

That belt obviously would rank above the WBA title held by Denis Lebedev (which would presumably become the 'regular' title) and the interim WBA title held by Beibut Shumenov. Interestingly, I note Lebedev and Shumenov are the two highest ranked Cruiserweights with the WBA...meanwhile, Jones Jr and Maccarinelli are somewhat conspicuous by their absence:

Why, just why..? I bet Tony Bellew would like to get Roy Jones Jr to come to Liverpool after he failed to turn up last month to fight Tony Moran.

i'll bet enzo is taking the fight for about 3 half crowns though.....bellew would want more than that plus i don't think roy would turn up here after the tony moran fiasco and as far as i know vaughan is still looking at legal options to fine jones for his no show. it cost vaughan a fortune apparently

I've met Enzo a few times and he's one of my favourite fighters, would be awesome to go over to see this but the dates don't fit around work and even if they did i'd have to fly back first thing the next day for a concert.

Can they delay it a week? that would be perfect!!

I'm glad about that because if it had happened it would have made a total mockery of what being a world champion means. Not that being a belt holder could mean much less than it does right now. God how I long for the days of 8 divisions and one undisputed champion in each division.

any way........

don't forget ( i know how antsy you ladies get!) that alexander povetkin faces mariusz wach on WEDNESDAY 4TH NOVEMBER at 1pm on boxnation. set your sky boxes gentlemen because i think the way povetkin has been looking lately this will be an interesting fight on 2 levels....

1) the winner gets a crack at wilder

2) we get to see this version 2.0 of povetkin versus a guy who took a fking hiding off wlad but stayed upright. yeah, he subsequently tested positive but if sasha blows him away early it further livens up the interest to see povetkin/klitschko 2

hehe

All good points, but all the talk and hype can get you excited.

Some exciting fights coming up in the upcoming months;
Andy Lee v Billy Joe Saunders
Wladimir Klitschko v Tyson Fury
Cotto v Canelo
DeGale v Bute
Martin Murray v Arthur Abraham

here's my tuppence worth......

andy lee stops saunders after a close fight middle rounds

klitschko stops fury inside 6 rounds after a cautious start

canelo pulls away later in the fight to outpoint cotto who looks like he's been in a car crash by the end of 12 rounds

degale wide ud over bute. i think the froch loss MIGHT be a bit of an anomoly for bute (unless he's been "laceyed"....which is a distinct possibility...then he gets stopped second half)

murray has too much of everything for abraham......wide ud or even late stoppage at this point in arthur's career
