Kovalev couldn't get Hopkins out of there, I see Ward as defensively capable as Hopkins (who came to spoil that fight tbh) but with more attacking options.

So I'm going to go Ward on points too.

Froch reckons he could beat golovkin "here and now" despite being in his 40's and retired for over 2 years!

Retirement has affected his memory. This is what he had to say when he was still active and golovkin wanted to fight him

“Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. I don’t need to be in with him. Dangerous fight.”

Very solid performance from Groves there. Particularly impressed with how strong and sharp he was looking in the championship rounds...

Worrying news about Gutknecht; looks like he collapsed in the changing room last night and needed resuscitating in the ambulance on the way to hospital. Thoughts are with him...

Not good news, hope he's ok, certainly put on a brave performance last night. The last 3 rounds were a bit needless but I'm sure he wouldn't have been happy had it been stopped. Thoughts with him and his family.

He's been operated on and will apparently be kept in an induced coma over the next few days. I hate it when stuff like this happens....We can only hope he comes through ok...

That was a top class fight!

I actually scored that 114 to 112, so was almost in complete agreement with the judges.

Wow...amazing scorecards given the nature of the fight! Personally, I think it was just about right too.

Also, just wanted to note how good the commentary was, particularly from Malignaggi.

Very tight fight. Will be re-watching that later. I was half thinking it'd be called a draw. Kovalev dominated early on but Ward came on strong later on in the fight.

Krusher 114-113. I think Ward needed to do more to rip those titles away.

I think they will have to do that again. very close

Ward impressed me tremendously - fantastic movement and balance.

I had kovalev 7 rounds to 5 meaning a score card of 115-113.....However with the knockdown that makes a card of 115-112.

Ward really impressed me as the fight progressed but kovalev nullified him well on the inside. He closed distance well early on but started following ward in the second half.. great fight and I want to see the rematch!!
