Haye 2.0 turns out to be a serious campaigner, that would be fantastic for the heavyweight division
When has Haye ever been a top quality HW? What's his best win a H/W?

i reckon a good win was absolutely destroying a rock hard (albeit a bit past best) john ruiz....nobody had done that to him before really...

also, even though there was some dubious scoring in previous fights he did beat valuev in better fashion than chagaev who was the only other guy to get a win over valuev.....before you say it i agree that the real dangerous guys were avoided like the plague by valuev but haye obviously got the win where holyfield, barrett , liakovich and others didn't...

in heavyweight standings he's got bags of potential but everyone remembers the klitschko loss......a loss to the best heavyweight of this generation.....no huge shame there

head to head right now i'd give him a great chance of beating wilder and maybe a lesser chance of beating parker and joshua who hasn't quite got the fluidity yet (but is improving every single fight) so i would say he's in and around top 10 material.....but you'd have to rank pulev, joshua, parker, ruiz jr,.povetkin, wilder, klitschko, chagaev and ortiz above him at this point,.....

i'd back him to beat 3 or 4 of that list tomorrow....

Haye was (is?) a fast, slick, heavy-handed (even at heavyweight), entertaining and, as tuscaneer illustrates above, technically first-rate fighter. He can also generate huge amounts of interest in fights (whether people like hype or not). Why wouldn't a fit and firing David Haye be a fantastic addition to the heavyweight division...?

Yeah, but I'd like to see how any of them would react if someone accused them of stealing their broadband... whistle

FTFY wink

I'm not buying into this Haye, Bellew thing. Apart from the Derry Matthews bout there is nothing on the undercard of any interest - Katy Taylor wins easy, a run out for Lee Selby that should literally be a walk through, and whilst I like both Mallinagi and Eggington I don't want to see them box each other.

I'm not buying it.

Some of the betting is interesting though. Bellew 5/1 to win! and 7/1 Haye to win round 1... Got to be worth a tickle?

I agree with all of that list apart from Joshua. He may not be part of the sell the fight like Haye and Bellew are doing but he's so manufactured by Sky and Matchroom that he's in danger of losing his actual personality. They want to create this boy next door, stay humble figure but don't be surprised if stories of a darker, meaner Joshua creep out from the shadows in a few years.

In regards to the Haye fight I can't see anything other than a Haye KO. Plenty of bookies offering free bets when signing up so I may lump on early rounds.

ha!!!!!!!!!laugh

but in my defence.....when it's going down on an industrial estate in liverpool i'm thinking more about incapacitating my opponent both verbally and physically than i am about conducting matters in a manner more befitting a country club....

"COME ON YER fkIN' stHOUSE!!!!!...GET OUTSIDE NOW AND I'LL fkIN DO YER , YER !!!!" whispered the tweed clad gentleman reading the financial times in the smoking room of Gleneagles after clearing his throat to accentuate his statement of intent.....

it's a haye ko i think too.....don't blame bellew as i know what he's getting paid......then he goes back down to cruiser to defend his belt against the winner of huck/breidis........now THAT is a massive ask for him whoever wins out of those 2....

Wasn't Joshua the same boy next door type before going professional? I'm sure I remember his interviews before and after the Olympics where he came across the same.

Joshua found himself on the wrong side of the law in his younger days. Let's hope that's firmly in the past...

Depends if selling drugs is what the boy next door does wink

Haye first 4. Maybe 5. 1 isn't a bad bet as I think he wants to just get it done to give him the best shot at a Joshua fight.

Might have some on Haye in the first @8-1

Definite possibility I think.

He's no Mr Nice Guy if you look into his history and it's just because he cannot speak English properly. If you ever read any of his interviews in his mother-tongue, he is quite different. It's just convenient to fall into the Mr Nice Guy role as all he can do is smile and string together a couple of oft repeated sentences.

Haye vs Bellew is more dross being fed to us by the usual suspects (Hearn and Haye) for easy money and Bellew wants some of that as he cannot compete with any of the top Cruserweight contenders and was fortunate to win a vacant title. If Haye is even a third of himself, he destroys Bellew early.

Haye did look the business in the weigh in today. Suspect once Bellew gets in the ring and hears the ding ding ding...he'll realise who he is in with.

I love all the pre-fight hype, thrash talking etc, adds a bit of drama and can get casual boxing fans interested too.
