At the fight of the gloves, or the fight with Benn?

This was back in the days when I would sit and watch the major events with my mum and dad. So I remember the Eubank, Benn and Bruno fights from back then. Then it was ruined by Sky.

What a tragic end to a boxing career. I was amazed at how he utterly battered Benn, but then the damage started to show (looked drunk, hanging gum shield out etc) and then that was the end of his career.

Being pessimistic, how can you be very confident that it is THE glove worn on the night?
i know, when you watch it back now the warning signs were there from early on.that constant blinking he was doing...and nobody seemed to notice..even when reg and harry said something about it in the commentary they weren't saying things like "get him out of there" , more like "this is strange".....

ringside medical attention post mcclellan and watson improved a lot. i was there the night paul ingle got hurt......if you were to wind the clock back 5 years from then you've got to think about how much longer he would have been in the ring until he was stretchered out...he may not even have been here today because his injury was touch and go...

as to the glove, it came from Gerald's sister when she sold a lot of his stuff to raise money for his medical care....photo matched etc. so i know it's kosher

At the fight. I will never forget it. I've never known an atmosphere like it. Electric doesn't even come close. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Was really cold outside, but like a sauna once you were ringside. We were 7 rows from the ring. Frank Bruno, Naseem Hamed, Frank Warren etc in front of us.

McClellan was the huge favourite. No-one gave Benn a chance in the run up. There was talk of him being hypnotised by Paul McKenna. You had Don King walking around the ring waving stupid little flags, mouthing off and winding up the crowd. And there were some very serious faces in the audience, who didnt appreciate that.

Benn came out the dressing room and he really did look hypnotised. His eyes were like saucers, unblinking. I remember looking at McClellan just before the first bell, as he was being given his gum shield and he said to his trainer, "let's kick this motherfkers ass".

And that's what's he did. Benn was knocked down and through the ropes on the the judges table in the first round (going out of the ring bought some time IMO) and he weathered the storm.

After that it was just a war. Vicious, unrelenting violence. At the start of one round (possibly the 4th) they both came out and landed simultaneous haymakers and they both nearly went down.

Frank Bruno in a stupid orange suit wouldn't sit down and was getting grief for spoiling people's view.

Benn was put down again and came back stronger. McClellan was pushing out his gum shield, due to fatigue we thought, but perhaps not in hindsight, and was weakening.

He took a knee twice and didn't get up after the second one.

The place erupted. It was bedlam. Benn was saluting the crowd from on the corner pads/ropes and telling them they should believe in the Dark Destroyer and the ring was full of people.

As such it took a while to realise that McClellan was in trouble. He didn't collapse right away. Then the doctors and medical teams went in the ring and we knew it was not good.

They wanted the ring cleared but it just wasn't happening, and I honestly don't think Benn knew there was a problem until he was told while giving a TV interview (but that's just my opinion).

We eventually made our way out and the last thing I saw was Don King fawning all over Benn while his own fighter was being carried out of the ring on a stretcher and being given oxygen. The wker!

I was high on adrenalin and barely slept that night. I've never been so affected by a sport. Liverpool winning the champions league was amazing but I wasn't at the game, so it doesn't compare. When you see two men almost killing themselves a few feet in front of you, it doesn't leave you...

The legacy of the fight is tragic but no-one who was there will ever forget it.

I think Jack struggles at LHW but I do think he gets by Cleverly. It's an odd decision to start campaigning at LHW when you have the likes of Kovalev, Ward, Beterbiev and even Chilemba that I feel would all best Jack.

Personally, I think I'd slightly favour Cleverly for that one. As I've posted on here before, I regard Jack as a skilful, technically proficient fighter but relatively one-paced. That's not really a criticism because he typically fights at a decent tempo which he sustains through the fight...it's certainly not a plodding one-pace. But where he really comes into his own is when his opponent takes his foot off the gas - then his persistent tempo allows him to start to dominate. I felt that was what shaded it for him against Groves (though I personally felt that fight was about even) and got him back into it against DeGale. However, Cleverly is a hustle 'n' bustle style fighter who has a tremendous engine on him and is comfortable fighting for the full 12 rounds. Stylistically, I don't think that plays to Jack's advantage. Cleverly also would have the upper hand in height and reach...maybe hand speed too...and is a seasoned Light-Heavyweight; not a massive puncher but strong and durable.

That said, Jack wouldn't be out of the running by any means. Cleverly's defence isn't water-tight (see the way Braemer was landing the left hook consistently) and Jack's accuracy is very good. Not sure I'd see him stopping Cleverly, but a points win would certainly not be beyond the realms of possibility.

rather strange move by the WBC ???......either way, huck/breidis is a great fight and i'm backing the underdog to pull off the win. breidis has looked sensational to me over the last few fights and if we are being honest i don't blame bellew for going after a mega pay day at heavyweight rather than have to fight a lion like breidis for short money.....it's all academic anyway because as soon as any of them have to fight usyk they are fkedlaugh

From seemingly nowhere the division is full of talent.

Briedis, Gassiev, Usyk, and even Dorticos are all far too hot for Bellew.

and i've heard rumors that beterbiev is going up as well!!/....though i don't know how much credence we can give that as a fight with kovalev or ward would be huge for him staying at light heavy...

that'll be a great fight that!!....i fancy brook will have just a bit too much for spence at this point in time. spence's best win is algieri whereas brook has got the scalps of porter, senchenko and ndou

Briedis wiped the floor with huck there!!!......I could only give huck the 5th round and nothing else.....beautiful double jabbing from Briedis all the way through....not so many of his trademark back hand uppercuts/lead hooks..I think I counted 5 all fight...but he didn't need them particularly....his distance control and laser jabs were more than enough. Lateral movement wasn't particularly excessive (his usual sliding up and down on the ropes not really a factor) but his ability to just back out of range then close up with 4 and 5 punch combos was superb...
After last night I see him as second only to usyk at the moment...I could see him beating gassiev in that form
