Is Fury starting to doubt himself... His words on losing tomorrow

"I won't be the champion I think I am. It would mean I'm no good. Simple. If I can't beat Wlad, it means I'm no good. And I'll be the first person to say that.

"I'd think about retiring, for sure. Because make no mistake, there's nobody out there other than Wlad that's any good. I think Wlad could beat the rest of them out there.

"It is what it is. if I don't beat him then I'm obviously no good so I'll think about doing nothing and just put my feet up."

Well if he does do that he'll always have his 5 million quid from the fight to keep him warm at night!

I've succumbed and have added to the Sky coffers, against my better judgement smile

In my utterly unexpert opinion, I'm going for WK to stop Fury in the 6th.

Klitschko's weighed in at the same weight as he did against pulev, and fury has weighed in the same as Pulev did.

Short reminder of what happened there http://youtu.be/aPZrvNRi-ro

Would have liked to see fury carrying some more mass, but he obviously thinks he's going to be the quicker.

Klitschko is levels above Fury. Fury doesn't even have appeared to fought anyone in the top 10 or any big guys near WK's size. People keep saying WK hasn't fought anyone as big but he has - recently, Marius Wach. Yes, Fury is faster and more nimble than Wach (especially for his size) but he doesn't have the experience, power or chin. Unless Fury has levels he hasn't shown us or WK has gotten old over night, I expect a WK KO.

Photos after the weigh-in were funny, WK is more near 6,7 and Fury close to 6,9 but WK was clearly wearing lifts in his shoes as he was taller than Fury!

That is a good comparison Wach to Fury, in fact Wach looks better than Fury, regarding Fury being more Nimble, I would say 'ungainly' & at times off balance. He has gotten away with it against most ,excluding Cunningham, but Vlad's footwork & general ringcraft IMO he wont be so lucky. Looking at Vlad's style, at times he does lots of things wrong but gets away with it. He is at times, very upright & its this I think that gives, IMO ,that wooden style, yet he can spring away in a moment & has good legs, I think this was more pronounced with Wach due to the height of Wach, so will be interesting to see if he is the same with Fury or has he made adjustments. He hangs his chin out with his hands low when he wants to launch an attack & mostly gets away with it unscathed... I can see why fighters/trainers think he can be beaten & to me Vitali was a better fighter but IMO more wooden, Vlad is more fluid, which realy shows when he has someone going, he is a great finisher!. I really hate to think this, but I can't see Fury pulling this off...maybe if he could have taken a few more risky fights on the way up, but at this point in his career I feel Vlad is too much for him, unless Vlad tires, which is unlikely...very happy to be proved wrong thoughsmile

Team Fury unhappy with condition of the ring...and having watched the footage, I can see their point. It looks like the soles of their shoes are sinking in to it:

Isn't it like football though, if the pitch is st, it's the same for both teams.

Or is Fury looking for a get out clause?

To an extent, yes, but ultimately it still has to meet an acceptable level; just in the same way there can be some variation in the ring size but it can't be 6' x 6' or 60' x 60' despite it being the same size ring for both participants. Wimbledon of the late-80s/early-90s would have been more than happy to play every game on a cow-field if it were down to them and they'd have probably won the league every year if they'd been allowed to do so...but of course they weren't (though, having been to Selhurst Park on numerous occasions round that era, sometimes you were hard-pressed to spot the difference). The problem for the Furys though is, unlike the size of ring, there probably isn't a particularly clear definition of what is and isn't 'acceptable'...

By the way, if anyone is still under the impression Wladimir Klitschko is some noble, chivalrous Corinthian type in a sport of underhand schemers, think again. Gamesmanship like this and the gloves a few days ago is the type of thing he (and Vitali) has done time and time again, and generally gets away with - rightly or wrongly, the 'A-side' fighter quite often can, and the Klitschkos have never been shy at taking advantage of such 'privileges'. It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out...

Most who know boxing know that the Klitschkos use these sort of things as advantages to gain the psychological edge. They even did it with Haye, making him take a long ring walk through their fans. I think most powerful promoters/boxers do the same - just look at Mayweather and the glove debacle in the first Maidana fight and then the USADA stuff. Outside the ring, however, the Klitschkos have been been mostly exemplary.

Absolutely - hence my reference to the 'A-side' fighter. However, to be clear, my comment about being noble and chivalrous was in the sporting context (hence the use of 'Corinthian', as in 'Corinthian spirit', etc). The thing is, there are those that see the 'outside the ring' public persona and project that forward as the boxing persona, when the truth can be somewhat different.

That said though, occasionally you do get a hint there's a little more to the public image than meets the eye. Remember how disgusted the Klitschkos were with the shenanigans at the Wlad-Chisora post-fight press conference? You may have seen this before but always worth a look:

Yeah, Vitali looks fking appalled, doesn't he?! hehe

I wish Fury wins, not a fan of the Klitschkos either.
