I thought the championship was entertaining and we did well overall with 7 medals and a lot of other good performances.
Negatives were the BBC and it's pitiful coverage with hours of analysis of predominantly running and a huge lack of field event coverage.
I am involved at grass roots level and all the debate here about PEDS just has no relevance there. We have a great sport giving fitness, focus, commitment and competitive opportunities to young people. The variety of events gives wider opportunity and all are equal and not reliant on high incomes as in a lot of other sports.
Well said. The beauty of the sport will always be at the grass roots level. Few sports are as inclusive as athletics.Negatives were the BBC and it's pitiful coverage with hours of analysis of predominantly running and a huge lack of field event coverage.

But, unless I've misunderstood, you don't think Flo-Jo took illegal, performance enhancing drugs?
You've not really misunderstood. I'm saying Flo Jo passed drugs tests at every level, so by definition is drug free according to the IOC. What I think is irrelevant, same as people talking about the shape of her jaw, her muscularity or voice. It doesn't matter. I wouldn't pass an opinion I'd only use the facts because if you don't you really are just speculating and that's as unfair as using. For example I just caught Michael Schumacher on Top Gear, the episode where he revealed himself as the Stig. His jaw is so pronounced it's freaky. HGH? or just a bloke with an abnormal jawline.

His jawline didn't grow in a year though did it? Body changes in a short time aren't proof at all they are indicators. They build up a picture which arouses suspicion and then people form opinions. No one said she failed a drug test, that as has been proved means nothing at all. For example I just caught Michael Schumacher on Top Gear, the episode where he revealed himself as the Stig. His jaw is so pronounced it's freaky. HGH? or just a bloke with an abnormal jawline.
I know where you are coming from however for all we know she could of been taking some supplement we hadn't heard of and wasn't on the banned list therefore you could say she ran clean
I remember Flo Jo she was quite a sight very powerful but very graceful and fluid. She is dead and she never failed a drug test so why speculate on something that cannot be proved. I think we all have our suspicions over Athletes especially the Communist block ones from that era. What I would like to see is a life ban for any failed test.
