Daphne Schippers performance was ridiculous - WWE is more realistic than that and probably less drug abuse. Only bettered by two known dopers, beats a Jamaican and improves her place in all time list by 100+. Not to mention the square jaw and the acne. If it walks like a duck..........
Kathy Cook to my mind was the best athlete this country ever produced. To think that she held records from 100 to 400 and most of those records stood for 20-30 years. Incredible - and you could be sure she was clean.
She should be a household name now but she isn't because she was competing in an era of state-sponsored doping programmes and the rise of the chemical savvy coaches in America.
It was a shame in many ways but it was wonderful to watch her run.

Schippers has been around awhile and putting in extraordinary performances - in the heptathlon - she moved over a year or so ago to specialise in sprinting. 272BHP said:

It is obvious that all the ex-athletes in the BBC's team of pundits think Bolt is clean. They made no attempt to hide their delight and relief when he beat Gatlin.
I listened to the 100m final on the radio. Mike Costello's commentary was superb as always, at the moment Bolt crossed the line he said 'the hero has taken down the villan' accompanied by an ear-splitting scream of delight from Denise Lewis in the background.

Interesting debate on the Beeb about Mo Farah - is he the best British athlete of all time? A great racer, but his PBs are 15/30 sec away from the 5K/10K WR. Personally I still think Daley Thompson is number one.
Better than Seb Coe no chance better than Ovett not even close but I agree he isnt even on the same planet As Daley. He is a very good racer.lerate said:

It really annoys me when people just assume that because people look a bit dodgy (or are white and win a sprint medal) they're doping without even considering the situation around the performances.
Schippers won the 100m and 200m in the European Championships while still training as a heptathlete last year. While some of the other heptathlon disciplines (Long Jump in particular) can be complimentary, most (high jump, 800m, javelin, shot) won't be conducive to sprint performances. Ditching those will have made a big difference. She's also still young (23) so improvements can still be expected to happen as she gets more experienced and accumulates training hours. The track at Beijing seems super fast, and the race was very fast with a lot of people to chase and work off.
There are many predictable reasons why she ran that fast.
That was a messy 4x100m relay just for the men!

Her javelin from 41.39 2014 to 42.22 2015 -- about 80cm.
Good going for someone focusing on sprinting.

That doesn't mean that some of the years of technique work won't pay off-she's fit and healthy and won't lose the technique overnight. Her high jump was still 3cm short of her best. 2014 was actually very low for her-she went 1.80, 1.77, 1.69 1.77 in the past 4 years. Her javelin from 41.39 2014 to 42.22 2015 -- about 80cm.

In the 200m she went very fast as a junior (22.70 at 17) then little progression until 2014-showing perhaps she was sacrificing a lot in that event for the other heptathlon events.
Again-there reasons for her to run fast.
Do you also accuse the Elaine Thompson of doping? She has had a much more rapid improvement this year. Schippers has gone 22.03->21.63 this year
Thompson has gone from 23.23->21.66 this year

Schippers started concentrating on sprinting 3 months ago and now she is third on the list behind Flo Jo and Marion Jones. I'm sorry it's not normal.
Another question did you believe in Lance Armstrong?
