Must be a few of you guys on there that do these regularly.

Could share training or race thoughts or whatever all in one place.

I'm off to UK champs in November, who else has qualified?

I have been thinking about starting an OCR thread for a few weeks now!

Congrats on getting to the UK champs - I haven't made it this year, but quite a few friends have.

What races have you done - what have you got lined up?

Running in elite male, expect to get left for dust. :P

Have done Nuclear Rush, Nuclear fallout, Rock Solid, Nuts Challenge 4 lapper, Tough Mudder, One True Grit (first win), Vision wild run, brutal 10, Mud Sweat and Beers, The Suffering, Ram Run, The Jarl, Man V Horse, Judgement Day Copehill Down, Warrior Adrenaline Race, Spartan Sprint, probably a few I've forgotten.

The rest of my calendar for this year is pretty bare, I have UK Champs in November, and that's it! Will be booking the Swanbourne Endeavour in a bit (october), possibly MH Survival of the Fittest (late Nov). Next year, looking at Urban Attack Sub Zero, winter Fan Dance, Paris Marathon, probably more Suffering/Nuclear/Nuts. Going to try and have December and February as off season, could even be longer if I don't do The Fan Dance.

Tempted by a Trifecta as well, we'll see. Next year looks like another busy year!

A friend of mine is off to the OCR world champs I think. In Ohio or somewhere like that isn't it? He's probably registered on here but not sure he's a regular visitor.

Yeah, Spartan World Champs was last weekend, World OCR Champs are soon. I qualified, but couldn't afford it. UK Champs is more my budget haha!

I've been into OCR's since 2013 and so far done 3x Tough Mudders, 2x Rock Solids, 2x Dirty Dozens, Spartan Sprint, 2x Spartan Supers, Spartan Beast (got my Trifecta this year), Nuclear Rush, Nuclear Blackout, Monster Race, Adrenaline Rush Bristol, JD Copehill Down, Mudnificent 7, RR Survival of the Fittest, RR Dirty Weekend, RR Man vs Mountain and in June 3 friends and I travelled to Sweden for Toughest 24hr Xtreme

I am thinking about JD Bordon later this month, also Wolf Run and I'm doing Nuclear Fallout in November. I will probably have a rest in December and then look at Hell Runner and Tough Guy in January!

Whereabouts are you based? Are there any other races you recommend? I wanted to do Ram Run but it was only a week after Spartan Beast and I got man-flu as well so will have a look at that next year. I want to do Pain and Suffering and Toughest London and Oslo next year, also Mighty Deerstalker looks good!

Done the 4 laps of Nuts Challenge this Summer. So many events around now its really difficult to know which ones are going to be good. Tough Mudder has the big name, but I done that last year and thought it was pretty weak compared to doing Nuts Challenge. Wouldnt bother with it again.

How do you Qualify for the World champs?
Finish within a certain position at qualifying events. I qualified that The Suffering this year.

I'll be doing UK Champs, possibly Survival of the Fittest then have December off. Looking at doing Tough Guy in January, just unsure. I'm based in Bedford, so quite fortunate that I have a lot of races within a couple of hours of me. Agree that it's starting to become a very crowded marketplace. Ram Run is well worth doing!

I did, with my missus, the recent Rough Runner in Clapham. Not sure how it compares to the rest of the courses but found not really that challenging. Admittedly we did the 5k course and not the 10k course so didnt do some of the obstacles. In hind sight though, nobody checked the colour of the bands as you did the obstacles so could have just run the 5k and veered off per obstacle.

Think Tougher keeps popping up on my newsfeed in Facebook so tempted to do that but im not really a runner

I've done the Yorkshire Tough Mudder last 3 years, love it.

Never heard of half of those though!

So many out there now. Tough Mudder is a great event to get more people into the sport, that said there are far better value events out there.

I took joint second/third at the Swanbourne Endeavour today. Ok result, pace was good, hills were brutal, obstacles were ok. Nothing for the upper body though. UK champs in 4 weeks.

Anyone catch the footage of the World Champs over the weekend? A certain Mr Albon took 1st place in the individual event and I think he was in the UK trio that won the team event too!

I'm off to Judgement Day Bordon next Sunday and hoping some hard work at a new OCR gym in Bristol will start to pay off!

Who is back racing this year?

I'm trying to qualify for Worlds, but we'll see if that happens!

Also doing Nuclear Oblivion in between a couple of marathons as well. Bear Grylls is going to a site near me, and going Urban Attack Sub Zero at Milton Keynes. Looks to be a good year. Pity I'm fat and slow after having 6 weeks off of training following UK champs and Christmas.

Was anyone else on here at UK champs? I finished 48th Elite Male, and kept my wristband, I was content with that result given my run up to it had been pretty crap.

I'm tempted to do Hell Runner on the 16th but just not sure my running is up to the distance at the moment. I need to sort out my entry for Tough Guy too. I have already qualified for the world Team Championships but it seems a bit Mickey Mouse to be honest. The aim this year is to qualify for the UK Champs.

I certainly don't plan on doing as many events this year as 2015, but definites on the to-do list are 1/2 Ram Runs, Toughest London and Suffering Legend (this may be scuppered by doing the 3 peaks challenge the weekend before)

I'm in no way an elite runner, but if you fancy a change and a trip abroad, you could also look at the Fisherman's Friend Strongman events across Europe. I did the Swiss Strongman last June- in Engelberg. A little over 19 km with 40 obstacles (2 lap race). They also just started a winter edition, around 12 km, but in the snow.
There's quite an emphasis on fun participation, but obviously there are elite runners too.

Finished my 3rd Tough Guy yesterday, as usual great atmosphere. Thankfully not cold this year, so I wasn't a shivering wreck at the end.

I signed up last minute (and paid for the privilege!)

Really great atmosphere and a decent course - the hill slalom was pretty punishing on the old legs!
