Went out for a quick run tonight. Took 1:40 off my 5k PB. 26 mins dead. Not too bad considering I still weigh 107 Kg. I had already swum 3.5km this morning as well.
You should be tapering (whatever that actually means!!)

I'm on a pair of trainers that I've had for years. I bought them for the gym about 5 yrs ago.

I'm invisible.

On the subject of PBs... Thought it would take ages for me to get under 30 for the local parkrun... then I manage to get under 29 minute (I think) outta nowhere eek

Was it the weather? (first sunny warmish parkrun since I started doing them at the start of the year, always been cold/wet/snowing/overcast/freezing)
Or that I've just started joining a local running club during the week (who actually jog at my usual 6 min/km pace)?
Or that fact I was wearing my new fancy schmancy running tights for the first time? rofl

I'm currently circa 4 mins off my pb, but I thought I'd try a lil something different today, had an orange and a gel. First three klicks flew by, but got tired into the fourth, and then some fking crazy hail and wind came from nowhere which lasted until the end...and then stopped for bright sunshine...10 mins after I'd finished.
I knew I'd fked up when the pace guy I wanted started to slip away at 3.5k. I shoulda been behind him instead of going off at the start. biggrin

I've got some Nikes that I've had for 7-8 years, they look like crap - covered in a thin layer of muck on them, never been cleaned, bit of the outsole has disintegrated in the middle.

I've must have walked/ran well over 300km in them over the years. They're still comfy to wear & run in, don't smell and don't get any pains or anything. I should probably be thinking about a new pair though... hehe

Yes, stacked field this year. Hopefully Robbie can do well though.
He did very well - 2nd behind Donnie - I did the southern upland way over a few days with him a few years ago, at one of the o/night camps about half way through he arrived, had a cup of tea and went off for a paper - 12 miles round trip and two river crossings away! Great guy, quietly mad.

"Technically" I am. Lowering the distance but maintaining the intensity. :-)

I am not tapering. The HM is just for sts and giggles really and the main event is the half ironman in July. This week is an RnR week anyway for have done less. My running felt strong and I just wanted to go out and test my self.

4th for Robbie, 2nd for Damien and 3rd for Kim Collison. Good racing throughout it seems!

Is that what tapering is?

So Sunderland half for me tomorrow, Looking to knock a bit off off my half pb of 1:38 as that was a few months ago on the hilly Haweswater half. I think I could knock 5 mins off that hopefully.

Not quite as quick as I thought I may gave been able to manage but 1:34:58 today in the Sunderland half marathon. It's still 3 mins faster than my pb from March this year.

Happened to be in Miami today so went for a run on the beach. Too hot to run but great to be out and about in the heat.

I quite fancy roller-skating in that sort of environment. Like Fletch.

First HM done. 02:08:50

Felt fking epic for the first 8 miles, 9-10 were tough and 11 & 12 were hell. Found a second wind just near the end and went for a sprint.

Can't walk now
