Any fans of Newton trainers? Especially the ones with the Action/Reaction springy pads?

I've just ordered a pair of Newton Motion IVs to give them a try.

On reflection I should have posted something about this last week, bit of a last minute decision to go though.

Night of 10000m PBs on Saturday at Parliament Hill track, free entry, Olympic selection event, beer tent covering the back straight, spectating from lane 3, brilliant event worth the 2 hour drive to get there, much quicker to get back as we left at 10pm and luckily just missed the 3 lanes closed on the M25 that they were setting up as we went past!

Will try and remember to post beforehand next year.

For those who are fast (ie not me!), apparently anyone can enter, they gradually open up entry by time until they fill up.

Vids available on the web.

Was very tempted to make the journey for this. Maybe next year.

Followed the progress online and looked like an absolute belter of a night. Chuffed for Jess Andrews to not only make the GB team, but smashed her PB in the process.

It's a great event and Ben Pochee has done an excellent job revitalizing the 10,000m. I was disappointed not to be there but had other plans.

Congrats! Always good to bag a new PB that starts with a different number to ones before!

As a lightweight runner, I'm also a lightweight drinker so will probably stick to the cheering me thinks!

Certainly is, its the kind of change that should raise a question about where you should send your urine samples.....

Congrats, I am guessing it wasn't the same race/course. Or the distance was short wink

Working away in Holland again for a few months and decided to give run commuting a go. Turned out to only be 4km back to my hotel, I thought was at least 5. Now not sure if I should do 4km every day and try to get get quicker at it, or up the distance a bit a couple of days a week once I've got used to running with a rucksack.
Only a month or so to endure 24 so I guess it would make sense to try and do 8km or so fairly regularly.

I'm following Steve Way on Strava and in the last 3 days, he has run a marathon each day as a training run (He's training for a 90k race) If that was not enough, he has done them all in sub 3 hours...... and mostly within 3-4 seconds per mile.... outstanding!!

Enjoying my physio, gym work and cross-trainer work. Sort of. not nice to have to workout indoors so much, but my shinsplints seem to be leaving and the fitness is OK with the cross trainer work.

Agree with ^^^ Steve Way is a great guy to follow on Strava - very open about his training, so worth look out for.

Been away for a while as running has not really been featuring that much recently. I have only been managing about 2 runs a weeks for the past couple of months due to lack of motivation.

Had the Basel half last weekend and ran it 2.5 minutes slower than last year with a 1:46:55 but considering the lack of training it was not too bad. I lost around a minute with various things (toilet, laces coming undone etc) so I am around 1.5 minutes off my pace from last year.

Motivation has returned somewhat but I need to give my feet a rest as I managed to get two huge blood blisters and some bruising from my socks.

Got my first marathon this Sunday, doing the Edinburgh marathon. Aiming to finish first and foremost. I was aiming for sub 4 hours but my last training run at that pace was awful so my adjusted target is now 4 and a half hours. Planning to on taking my running trainers in hand luggage just in case my bag goes missing! Figure I can replace everything else up there.

On Saturday night at Highgate he was enjoying the last weekend of being the natural Steve before going back to being the elite distance runner Steve, so was knocking back copious quantities of beer and smoking cigars!

Take all your "must have" gear in hand luggage - it's not worth the stress (IMHO) of having to do laps of Edinburgh looking for shorts or something.

Good luck though. Supposed to be a pretty quick course, especially if the wind's right.

Twisted my ankle on a pothole a couple of weeks ago so stuck in the pool for the moment frown

Really frustrating as we'd done a fairly fast run over very rough terrain on the Tuesday, then a very easy run on the pavement and I'm not paying attention and go over on it!

Having been out of running action since October (initially calf problem, then patella tendon, then groin...) and attempting to rehabilitate myself, I have been easing myself back into running over the past few weeks, whilst trying to avoid "over-doing it".

Inspired by "Natural Born Heroes", MovNat, Freerunning and other traditional training, my "runs" have mostly been workouts combining straight running with other movements (jumping, vaulting, climbing, crawling, balancing etc) on natural and man-made structures and incorporating some of my strength training (bodyweight and lifting, and particularly carrying, heavy objects). It seems to be working so far. My overall conditioning is improving, my running is progressing and it has been really enjoyable.

-At the moment I am not concerned at all about returning to my previous 5K, 10K, half-marathon etc. times, but will just continue to build up my running alongside my other activities.

The weather has turned warmer here and it was 31C when I started my run on Wednesday so I thought I would run early this morning when it was a mere 22C smile A short warm up followed by 6 x 400 with 2 min recovery and a jog home followed by sweating profusely for 30 minutes.
Debating whether to race next Saturday morning and whether to do 5k or 10k. Goal race is a 10k on 4th July so leaning towards the 10k
