Hey HBL, I'm 6'2".

I'm surprised you only have an extra 1/2", there's someone at my club who is 6'4" and he was fitted at the national Mizuno centre and he has an extra 1" on his irons!
My previous irons were 1" longer, but they weren't properly fit. Just an American Golf "you'll need an extra inch" affair.

I got properly fitted for my more recent clubs and the fitter said Titleist don't like doing more than about 1/2" longer. How true this is, I don't know.

I guess the length of your arms will have a big impact, which is why ping measure wrist to floor. I've got relatively short legs and quite long arms and body. If that were the other way round, in theory I'd need longer clubs for the same posture.
Yeah, sounds about right if you're built like an ape biggrin

Ping G30 SF Tec 10* 65 Tour Stiff
TaylorMade M2 18* 5 Wood 65 Reax X Stiff (bloody hate the thing!, its the first and last taylormade club I'll ever buy)
Ping i20 20* TFC Stiff
Ping S55 4-PW CFS X Stiff
Vokey SM5 Custom 52/56/60 S400
Scotty Cameron Futura X 34"

For now anyways...Got a 917 driver & 5 wood on order and a matching 816 hybrid. Booked in at Ping for a iBlade fitting too, love the S55's but they are showing 4 years of hard use.

Oooh I do love a WITB. Currently "gaming":

Driver - Nike Covert Tour adjusted to 9.5 degrees, neutral - Diamana 60 S+ Shaft
Fairway Woods - Nike Vapor Fly 3W and 5W - Diamana 70 S+ Shaft
Irons - 1i, 4i - 9i Nike Forged Blades, DG S400 Shafts, stock lies/lofts
Wedges - Nike Engage 50, 54 Square Sole, 58 Toe Sweep
Putter - Yonex Super A.D.X Tour Forged, a Wilson 8802 copy made for Mickelson in the mid 90's.

Also have the 2 and 3 iron for the Blades, 2 iron replaces the 5 Wood in summer, 3 iron will be replacing the 1 iron when the temperature drops a bit. Mists + -5 degrees + bladed 1 iron = ow.

For once I'm actually happy with that set up, just need to get the irons regripped and maybe look at a new bag in the New Year.

Plus you can tell I've been on GolfWRX as I have a gratuitous picture smile

I really like the concept of same-length irons. It looks like they're not available in the UK yet, either Sterling or Cobra, but I reckon I'll be in for a set when they are.

The UK YouTube boys have them (Rick Shiels, Mark Crossfield, etc.) but Cobra won't let them release any reviews until 1st November.

So I'd imagine they'll be available next month some time.

Nice bag!

I've never had a TM product (apart from the odd pack of balls I've won!). Can't say anything of theirs grab me.

This is awfully, awfully sad. Almost Watches or Aston Martin sub-forum levels of self-congratulation.

Jim...

...ok, here goes...

....Mizuno MP600 adjustable weighty thingy driver.
Callaway original Big Bertha Warbird 3,5,7 woods
Mizuno MP62 irons if I'm feeling dead good at golf
Mizuno MP59 irons if I'm feeling ok at golf
Ping Zing II irons if I'm feeling a bit rubbish at golf
Vokey oil can wedges - 50, 54, 60.
Odyssey two-ball putter.

Can't even get close to remembering all the shafts - stiff but not very stiff.

How are you find the iblades, got a fitting next friday for them? did you see loss of distance on the lower bats?

Also in a difference from GolfWRX I only have 1 set, not 3 for home, 4 for travel and a spare just in case smile

I do like these What's in the Bag discussions though, they are a but show-off, but for equipment junkies like me they're ace. I'm seeing a lot of Ping action going on smile

Really pleased with them, the fitting was a fantastic experience. I was anticipating getting the I irons but the difference in feel between the two at the fitting was noticeable.

I've not seen any loss of distance with the lower ones, distance is broadly similar to my previous set. The mid to long irons are a bit longer and more consistent but this may be down to the head size and lower offset suiting my eye and the shaft allowing me to go after it a bit more!

hehe

I do have a spare putter in the wardrobe - a Scotty Cameron Newport I got about 10 years ago. Use it occasionally but it feels like a brick after the Yonex so doesn't last very long.

Very tempted to sell it and pick up a proper Wilson 8802. Love heel shatter putters - would love to find one like Mickelson is currently using, but not sure if it was ever released?

the closest would probably be a #9 odyssey versa although mickleson is an epic tinkerer!

a golf wardrobe... I have a spare room where I hide my gear nuts

I added up last night on the way to work what I've spent this year on gear (and I've still got my 917's & 816 hybrid to pay for, plus the inventible iBlades after next weeks fitting) £2k so far and as it stands the only thing thats changed from the start of the season is the bloody 5 wood, the tour bag and the Bushnell. Probably another £1k+ in clothing and shoes swell
Bought this year:
Ping G SF tec 5 wood
Ping G30 5 Wood
Taylormade M2 5 wood- Stiff
Taylormade M2 5 wood- X stiff
Ping Crossover Hybrid
Callaway Apex Hybrid
Ping Staff Tour bag
Bushnell Tour V3

A little ashamed of myself when I added things up. A lot of that cash could have gone into the savings.

unworkable. Good for one shot, moon ball. The thing is epically long but its a one trick pony.

I've been playing for 25 years, and I don't think I've spent more than 3k on equipment in all that time hehe

If I ever lost my 8802, I'd get a bespoke one made by Byron Morgansmile
