My new irons are class too. The bad ones go straight now, and just land short. They could go anywhere with my old clubs.

Custom fit seems to make a hell of a difference.

Nicely done Rosscow!! Played today, weather was better than the forecast said which was good, although in all honesty the course shouldn't have been open, it was very soggy! Bit of a mixed bag on the scoring front, on the upside I got 4 birdies which is all good, but somehow only managed to convert that into 35pts!

If nothing else it proved a point, getting to single figures isn't about making the good shots better, it's all about getting rid of the bad ones!

Tore it up today, boys! Shot 82 (out in 38). 3 birdies. Played some lovely stuff on the front nine and putted beautifully.

Happy days!
Excellent stuff. Managed a pretty ropey 90 today, 30ish points. 9 pars all the rest were doubles or worse which was ridiculous, 8 temp greens didn't help matters! Weather was awful for the whole round too.. Probably a 2/3 club wind at times with constant rain. Was still good fun and just glad to be out playing!

Absolutely. It's about turning blobs into single points and single points into 2! 90% of the time, that'll be achieved by working on 100 yards and in. Including your chipping and putting! What do you play off now? What are you doing to get down to singles?

Yeah, thought Sunday looked worse than Saturday! Glad I got out when we did to enjoy a dry round - a fair bit of wind but not too bad.

Temporary greens are terrible, you can't really pay any attention to your score with those!

My putting and chipping has really seen my scores improve. Putted like a demon on Saturday - including holing 2 from off the green! Even my lag putting was within 3' every time.

Makes such a difference.

Great stuff. Putting really does make a huge difference. Something i've got on my long list to practice more!

12.5 at the minute so playing off 13. Got to 10 last summer but a duff patch of form in the Autumn put me onto a slippery slope - A Christmas comp saw me up to 11.5, then got given a shot in the annual review which I was well pleased about as you could imagine!!

Still, it is what it is, if I'd have played better in the Autumn I would have stayed on 10 or 11 and also wouldn't have been caught up in the annual review. Just gotta play better and get it back down.

Might have a couple lessons but I'm fairly happy with how I hit it and my short game, but there are 2 things I'm trying to improve; course management, and the C word.......... concentration! So gonna try and make sure I try and play within my ability, play percentage shots, don't always reach for the 3-wood to get back into position, aim for the middle of the green rather than chasing the flag etc, normal kinda stuff. And for concentration, check my ball positioning is right cos it tends to creep forward it, and thereafter have an inside-to-outside swing thought through the ball.... my bad shot is when I pull across it and end up going left.

Apart from that, it's easy!!

Ever had a fitting? I'd really recommend the 2 hour putting analysis with Matthew Johns at Royal Blackheath. Real eye opener!

Ha! Swinging is easy, it's the bit between the ears that gets in the way of good golf! wink

I'll take a look! I never normally hit more than 36 putts a round, but rarely hit less than 30..so maybe a lesson would help!

Bloomin' weather!! Played last Sunday, in the wind and drizzle. Stuck at work today looking out the window, it's bright sunshine. Forecast for next Saturday? Rain.

It's a conspiracy!!

Yep, tee times already booked for both days!! The way I look at it, if you can get it round in a halfway decent score in these conditions, when the summer comes it'll be easy!!

Ha! How long have you been playing? You must be new if you're still so optimistic wink

Best wishes for a successful year, even more so for next.

My old man skippered our place a few years back and, with all the events, away matches, committee meetings, etc, we hardly saw him for 12 months !

Tell me about it.

My home track sits predominantly on clay and, despite the club spending £000's over the years on drainage, it has not held up well with all the rain we've had over the past 5 weeks.

Other than last Sunday when they opened up 12 holes, we've not been able to play on a weekend since before Christmas.

Of course, Monday comes along, the sun shines, and they go and open most of the course up, only for it to lash down again at the end of the week, putting paid to it for the entire weekend.
