I'm going for a fitting later today of Mizuno irons so will give my impressions of the JPX range if anyone's interested.
I'm a mid-handicapper so single-figure players can probably stop here hehe

Looking for something more forgiving than the Mizuno MP32 blades I've had for a while. I just like the feel of forged blades and these are fantastic clubs when I'm playing as well as I can.
I'm looking for a bit of help on the majority of days when I'm not.

Ok well, as luck would have it I was swinging as well I have ever done today. Absolutely striping it (for me).
Impact tape showed I was hitting it right on the money with my MP32s.

The nearest to my forged blades were the JPX Tour as expected. The JPX Forged were more clicky and maybe slightly longer. Didn't feel particularly more forgiving, which was my aim.

The JPX Hot Metal were very forgiving, with even craply hit shots getting there or thereabouts (would have gone nowhere with pure blades). Clicky though.

I learnt that my current set were still great when I'm playing well. Decent distance and high spin for holding greens. I'll keep using them.

In the end I opted for the Hot Metal. I'll use these when I'm not playing well or in poor conditions. They are much more clicky than classic forged blades but the sound is soon forgotten if the ball flight is acceptable.

I think it's a little sad to go from MP32's to Hot Metal frown

Don't be sad. smile
I'm still going to be using the MP32s when the conditions are good and I'm hitting it well.
But the fact is that I only play once every other week and I'm playing with people who's clubs just about hit themselves.

I tried the JPX irons when I was having a fitting for some new irons a few months ago. I thought they were great and my numbers good on them. My only issue was that the heads looked too big as i've used blades for years. It wasnt s much the long/mid irons but the PW, 9 & 8 that I didnt like the look of. Went for the Callaway Apex MB's instead and they are brilliant smile

Was that the JPX 900 Forged ? The JPX 900 Tour has only just been released and has much smaller heads than both the Forged and the Hot Metal.

For me, they have the look of a blade (certainly at address) but are just a little more forgiving on off-centre hits.

Good to hear you're liking the Apex irons. smile

I think it was the 900's I tried, nice club but just not for me.

The Apex's are really nice although it's taken a bit of adjusting to the KBS X shaft. Noticable difference in stiffness on the long irons smile

There are three types of JPX900:

Hot Metal: cast, most 'game improving' of the range;

Forged: still classed as 'game improving' but forged and smaller heads than the Hot Metal;

Tour: Only been out a month - tiny heads, look like blades, feel like blades, but they come minus the shiny chrome and with a small amount of cavity for added forgiveness;

Just popped into my friendly AG, and it looks like I picked up those Nike Fairway woods at just the right time - went in today and the stand was pretty much empty, with just a 3 hybrid there (no I didn't buy it smile). Looked like there were some bargains to be had as well - Vapor Fly Driver for 179, the fairways for 129 and the hybrids for 99. Not too bothered about missing out on the offers as I doubt I would have got them custom fit, but if anyone's after some cheap gear it might be worth popping into your local store.

Also booked myself in for my first lesson in 10 years. Am striking the ball beautifully, but have a bit of a pull which is limiting my scoring somewhat - always end up left of the green pin high, and with our hollow tined greens up and downs are a bit...challenging. Am booked in with the same chap who looked at my swing last time, and was pleasantly surprised to see he hasn't put his prices up since I last saw him - still £20 for 45 minutes!

Must have been the Forged as the Tour would'nt have been out at the time smile

I think the sarcasm from deckster may have been lost on some, that site is faker than a very fake thing.
Some of the wording is funny too.

Plus they only sell the major names and, bizarrely, Honma who are virtually unknown here but very likely knocked off like crazy in the Far East.

Must admit the fact that the price doesn't change whether you pick Steel or Graphite shafts rings a major alarm bell for me - I would treat that deal as OOB and stay as far away from it as possible smile

Had our last medal of the season yesterday - shot an 81 for a nett 72 and came second. Had a weird day on the greens - drained absolutely everything from 10 to 15 feet away, but missed 3 2 footers frown Fairly satisfied with my days work, just still pulling my irons which I need to get sorted at my lesson next week. Left me with some interesting chips yesterday....
