But if you're playing a lot, then you'll burn through your 100 points in a few months. Maybe less.
What's the 100 point system?

They've arrived!
Titleist 917 D2 9.5* Diamana M+ 60 Stiff x5ct
Titleist 917 F2 18* Diamana S+ 70 Stiff x5ct
Titleist 816 H2 21*Diamana M+ 60 Stiff
Can't wait to use them! Resisting the urge to head to the driving range as I hate range mats.
Did you test much else?

Numbers/feedback I've seen here from Titleist loyalists here not great so far.
I hit the 917 D2 (12* Diamana Regular) and the 816 H2 21* (again reg flex) at the weekend and I thought both were excellent. Driver felt very powerful and controllable, and the 816 was incredibly easy to hit (and looked great). Can't afford to buy either, but was impressed!

The scheme is at http://playmore.golf/

It is approximately a good idea, and overall well put-together.

So how is the point matrix devised for your golf club?

http://playmore.golf/download-points-matrix.php

The points matrix is designed on yield management principles. Rounds cost between 3-12 points, ish, depending on which course, when you want to play and the time of year, etc.

Points go a long way mid-week twilight, and not far at all at weekends.

Well the golfing season is tucked away again for another winter. Preferred lie's start tomorrow and the slow slog through the cold months.
How has everybody done?

My year.

38 qualifiers
Handicap moved from 6.2 to 5.1 (via 3.9 before the shanks set in!)
Best round -2, worst round +19
Played 20 new courses
Won 3 open comps
and spent far too much money!

I'm level with you on the money spent. The rest, not so much ...

My claim to fame this season is that I've won more money playing golf than Tiger Woods smile In all seriousness though, hasn't been too bad a season at all. Didn't win any of our "Majors" but am overall fairly satisfied. Played more this season than any of the previous 3 combined, and it's showed in:

Handicap fell from 9.9 to 8.5 (via 8.3)
Lowest Round: 74 (+3)
Highest Round: 91 (+20)
Most medal rounds in the 70's of any season so far: 5
Won 2 Mid week medals, came 2nd in 2 monthly medals
Came 2nd in the Medal Winner's Medal at the end of the season
Kept the local AG in business for another year finishing my bag off (3 wedges, 2 fairway woods and a shaft for my Driver)
Hit 3 shots in a row on Trackman with 0rpm Side Spin (I'm still proud of that)

Going to work over the winter on consistency, as I am currently as likely to shoot 75 as I am to shoot 90. Had my first lesson a couple of weeks ago, trying to shorten my backswing (current backswing was compared to Phil Mickelson - not entirely flattering if I'm honest) to stop me coming over the top and hooking it onto the next fairway.

Just getting through the point at the moment where it gets worse before it gets better. shot 86 on Saturday which wasn't too shabby considering I was losing everything right, and had a good session at the range yesterday, so the light at the end of the tunnel is there.

Next season I want to turn the 90+ rounds into 80+ rounds, and break 70 for the first time (had 3 rounds now at 70, and always left some shots out on the course). I also want to play in more tournaments outside of my club - so local Men's Opens etc.

I spent most of the year moping, and I'm looking to carry that through into the winter.

Had some good rounds, shot 79 for the first time, had some terrible rounds.

Have played about 10 or 12 qualifiers, missed the buffer zone by just 1 shot in 5 of them. Have gone up from 15.4 to 16.1.

Have played quite a lot of club matches at some great clubs - Royal St. Georges, Royal Blackheath, West Sussex, Royal Ashdown Forest, Littlestone, Langley Park, etc.

Haven't played enough, haven't practised enough!

BUT I've still thoroughly enjoyed my golf. And I'm looking forward to being Captain next year!

Before that, we've got a month more of Winter Foursomes, our Christmas competition, club match versus the Parent Club and a couple of competitions in January before the annual prize giving dinner in February.

Luckily for us, we don't have winter tees, winter greens, preferred lies or any other winter rules.

The only thing that we suffer from a bit in the winter is if the fog rolls in or the frost comes down......

Quite an odd year for me, played a fair bit of golf albeit I've realised only 6 or so qualifying rounds at my home club.

Highlights include the club championships that I finished 2nd in (no idea how I managed that!) handicap down to 5 (a new low) and some fantastic visits to other clubs / courses including the dukes at Woburn. I've supported my club pro and branch of american golf far too often! Hoping to play more competitive golf next year although pending fatherhood might limit that!!

Got told "Stop pi55ing about and focus, manage the course!" by my mentor

For once I listened and went from a 17 handicap to 8.8 in 4 weeks, shot 74 three times in that month

Didn't shoot a 59
No hole in one this season, yet....
No albatross either, yet......
Watched a player six putt on the first hole
Saw another player start with eagle, birdie, eagle
Landed a ball straight in the cup from 100 yds
It bounced back out
Blew my driver up
Won a pot plant

Thanks Rosscow, I only tell you guys the extreme stuff of my season, mostly the things that'll make you chuckle, you don't need to read about my boring weekly averages.

The six putt on the first? I didn't know the chap, i was drawn with him, we started on the 13th, a hole with a steepish green, I still couldn't believe what I saw and I kind of laughed, cried and kept quiet all at the same time.....

I honestly don't know how he put that behind him so quickly. Shot a low 70something in the end on Augusta greens.

Played 37 qualifiers
Cut from 13 to 9.4, now 9.7. Got cut to 9.4 in a Sunday medal, then went up to 9.5 in Tuesday midweek medal so was single figures for 2 days whoop whoop!!
Broke par on the front 9 for the first time
Shot 76, my lowest gross
Not spent too much on gear, 2 rescues and 2 wedges (wedges don't count though cos I used pro-shop voucher winnings!)
2 golf breaks to La Cala in Spain, would recommend it. Hopefully go again next year.
Saw a playing partner get back to back eagles, good work!
No holes in one, Mrs got her 3rd early in the year, the jammy cow! On the upside, a cock-up in the bar meant our tab only came to £58, should have been more than double that!
So all in all a good year, definitely hitting it better and course management is improving.... giving it a rip with a 3-wood to get back into position isn't always the right answer. Main aim at the minute is to get back into single figures then try and stay there!

That's a fantastic year, and lucky you for having your Mrs play too smile
