I'll give that a watch later, cheers.
I don't actually mind him too much, he does seem like a bit of an excitable kid at times and I don't think I could manage a full round with him but a 5min video is OK hehe
Watch the series of vlogs with Lee Westwood. It's a full round of a Pro am event split into six videos. It starts a bit slow but the banter grows as it progresses. It's hilarious at times with Mark and Lee needling each other. Lee's dry sense of humour is great fun. Those that think Lee is dull might be surprised. Here's the first one:

Really enjoyed that little match they had. Even though it wasn't a match..

I get that he's a bit Marmite but I actually really enjoy his course Vlogs. Most of the time it's just him and his mates poking fun at each other with some semi-decent golf thrown in for good measure. There's also the occasional comedy bad shot which makes me feel better about my own play! I bet he'd be a nightmare to play a full 18 with though, I couldn't concentrate with all the giggling!

....as they often say a game that isn't a game hehe

I've tried the Rick Schiels channel too but his style is so dull compared to Crossfield. I always look forward to his vlogs. He is indeed a bit marmite but I'm firmly in the like category. I also have to give him kudos for fixing my grip. My grip was all wrong until I watched his instruction videos on how it should be done.

The biggest week of the Year for our golf club, it's President's Putter time! I'll try and get down on Saturday to watch some of the matches.

Here's a good article to tell you what it's all about:

And I've noticed on Youtube that someone has been getting busy with a drone camera! This gives you a nice view of some of our holes, although they have the hole numbers wrong!

Ha! Absolutely. Yeah, Rick Shields isn't great. I quite like me and my golf for instructional videos. Always clear and straight forward instruction. Worth checking out!

Cracking looking course. Don't think I could stomach the £125 a round fee mind.

You could come with me - it'd only cost you a tenner then biggrin

hehe

Unfortunately I can only take a maximum of 3 people, 6 times a year, as guests. My allocation is used up at the moment! Maybe later in the year!

Darn! Will have to make do with my local inland links to get my fix!

At the range yesterday and today, striking it lovely. Irons feel great and creaming the driver over the fence at the back of the range

Just need the weather to pick up so I can get out and see how it translates on to the course

Played 18 yesterday at a very soggy Mitcham. Hit my driver as consistently as I ever have and had probably my best back 9 ever, certainly my best back 8. The double on 10 hurts as it was a lost ball 5 yards off the green in long grass, possibly could have found it if I'd kept looking. Am still struggling a bit with fatting my irons, especially off the tee for some reason.

Golfshot looks pretty good, is there a free version? Haven't long bought myself a Laser Distance thing so don't need the GPS par of the app!

Just nailed down the usual group i play with for our yearly trip, looks like Exeter this year. Anyone have an course recommendations? Or know of any good Bars for the evening?

Yes, there is a free version (for Android at least). I use Pro as it gives better distance information (to hazards etc.) but you don't need that with a laser.

I find it very useful both to score during a round and to look back and compare previous rounds. I am probably going to get Game Golf Live soon though which should take up where this left off when it comes to stats, I'll probably still use GolfShot for scoring though.

I see why some people prefer a pen and paper but the app is just as easy for me.

I'm a pencil man when on the course. By all means use Golf Shot after the round (I do exactly that) but I think it takes too long and provides too much distraction to use a phone on the course.

And I'm speaking from experience! I used Golf Shot for 3 years before going for a Garmin watch. Great decision in my opinion.

The watch is instant, it's just there. Always. And if you get a decent one (mine is the S5) then you can bring up a view of the hole and touch it to get distances to hazards, end of fairways, etc.

With the phone I used to be worried about it getting wet in the rain, I'd pick it up, unlock it, wait for it to refresh, occasionally drop it (and not realise until 200 yards later!), and of course be distracted if text messages or missed calls were displayed.

I played with a friend the other day at Chart Hills. He purchased a course guide for £5 in the pro shop before we teed off.

He used this, along with a Bushnell range finder, his iPhone using Golf Shot, AND his iWatch. fking ridiculous!

I bet he plays off 28 and rarely scores 36 points...

I understand, but for me it feels completely natural, possibly as I've always done it.

Annoyingly at Chart Hills he managed to score 40 points off 18 (23 on the back nine!).
