Looking really good there Rosscow! Let us know how they play! Might end up switching to GP after all if they're a big improvement! Although if i get new grips, i'll surely need new clubs....can't stop looking at these at the moment...hmmm.

Wonder how much trouble I'd be in with SWMBO for treating myself to them...

Those MB's look lovely - but I do wonder if they'd be the right club for you at the moment? Not even all Titleist tour players use the MB's, most use the AP2.
Can't help but think they'll be very unforgiving on off centre strikes. Or maybe go for the CB's?
In other news, I'm quite interested in the Ping Crossover 4 iron....

I can vouch for the CB's Kentlad, bought a set of 714's a year or so ago and love them. Plus there's some bargains around now the 716's are out, I've seen 4-PW sets for £400.
And with regard to SWMBO, remember what they say, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission!!!
As for SWMBO, what she doesn't know won't hurt her!!! And with regard to SWMBO, remember what they say, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission!!!

I think I need to go and give them a whack to see if the consistency is there. The CB's are still lovely looking clubs too & would probably look at those for say 6,5,4,3 irons!
Spieth has AP2's from 4-PW, with a 712U 3 iron.
My thought process is "why make hitting the ball harder, just so I can use a club that looks nicer?"
I can see where you're coming from, but I honestly see no reason other than aesthetics as to why anyone at club level should play a full set of MB's.
Wedges and short irons, maybe.

I dare say the reason Speith is using AP2s is that it's what Titleist want him to use. But that's just me being an absolute cynic!
In fairness, I don't think they'd make anyone play clubs they didn't want to use. They want him to win - and if that means he feels more confident hitting AP2's then that's what he uses. I'm sure any top pro would tell the manufacturer where to go - there are plenty of other club manufacturers that would take him on!
Last year Zach Johnson even had an AP1 in his bag when he won the Open.

Mate of mine treated himself to a set of Mizuno MP-5 irons a few months ago - he still hasn't been brave enough to take them into the house in case his missus catches a glimpse and realises what he's done.I'm pretty lucky - I don't think my wife would have any idea what clubs I have (although I am keeping the new grips firmly in the bag at home at the moment!!)

I always think - if Tour professionals aren't using them, why should any club golfers?!

I know what you mean & I'm a massive tart which is part of the reason for wanting them! But then, I'm also of the thought process of...if they are hard to hit, then I'll have to improve me/my swing to use them. That's what I did with my current set. I tried some blades (mizuno/taylormade etc.) & decided I was a long way from using those so settled on the FG Tour irons from Wilsons which are somewhere in-between game improvements and 'player' irons they're forged a feel great... It's taken me 3/4 years since buying them but I've gone from a 23 handicap to a 12 (albeit it with 3 lessons chucked in to help along the way). Spieth has AP2's from 4-PW, with a 712U 3 iron.

I reckon most people who play to a low teen handicap that have aspirations to play to single figures (like me and you for example) could use them without having a detrimental effect to their handicap (after a bit of practice that is).

True fact coming up, majority of pros still use blades, in particular, the players who aren't sponsored, so buy purely on choice, use blades.
Blades are more accurate for dispersion, proven by tests on Iron Byron.
There are more reasons to but blades than not, do it and you won't regret it
All this talk of blades, I'm going to significantly lower the tone!! Seriously considering swapping out my 4 iron for a new Ping Crossover.
I'll wait for the upcoming Ping day at a course near me and give it a whack/get fitted for it. It looks intriguing and could be a decent club to swap for my not overly confident 4 iron.

KentLad - these could be for you!

Made in Maidstone, you can get have a go at Hemsted Forest (and custom fitting). Much cheaper than a main brand equivalent.

Shot 83 today, 38 points off my handicap of 16.
But, I left the course feeling that I'd played poorly. Left so many points out there. I'm better than 16, I think I should be about 12. Need to win a couple of comps ASAP. I had 34 points walking off the 14th green - 1 point on each of the last 4 holes was very frustrating. No blobs though.
Had the privilege of witnessing the best club golf I've seen. Playing with a guy off of 4, he shot 1 under the card to score 41 points. Some fantastic golf in tough conditions - it was windy!

Thought I'd just drop this in here:
That's my brother, just added the US Hickory Open Championship to his World Hickory title, bit of car nut as well, though his MGF would suggest not.
This is really F'ing cool, congrats to your Brother! That's my brother, just added the US Hickory Open Championship to his World Hickory title, bit of car nut as well, though his MGF would suggest not.
I looked into this a couple of years back, the clubs are so beautiful and I can really see the attraction of it.
The golf played is super impressive stuff, your Brother must be some golfer

I had a hit with these the other day, they were easy to hit and great feel, and they are stunning to look at. Looking down on them at address they looked bigger than my AP2's
I will defo consider blades for my next set, but only from 6-PW

Im in the market for new irons at the moment. Ive played the same set of Mcgregor MT Tour Semi Blades since I was 14, so they are now almost half my age!
It is a case of "if its not broke, dont fix it"...but im sure newer technology could help me out. Including a big lump of blade

Yeah, they look lovely. Maybe in a couple of years when I'm looking to replace my Ping's I'll look at blades, like you say, maybe just up to 6 iron. I will defo consider blades for my next set, but only from 6-PW

The biggest myth in golf is how hard blades are to hit. I will never go back to cavities now that I own blades.

Dont all big manufacturers offer blades anyway? Or are you suggesting that say Titleist would prefer their sponsored guys to use AP rather than the bladed equivalent?True fact coming up, majority of pros still use blades, in particular, the players who aren't sponsored, so buy purely on choice, use blades.
