Looking forward to a nice competition on Sunday, it seems like ages since I last played in one.

This.

My old club was run as an old boys club with the same committee for years.

Eventually some members had enough and put their names forward for joining the committee at the AGM and got voted in.

The following year I got voted on aged 23. Which was a bit of a shock to some biggrin

Within a couple of years the old guard were gone and the club was run by people who understood modern business and run the club properly. And me.

Haven't really chimed in much on this thread but I played on Saturday for only the 5th time in the last 8 months!

Managed to get away with 34 points after bogeying in for the 3 holes woohoo

Hoping to get my handicap back down this year to what it was when I had more interest in the sport and practiced!

,played Monte Rei today. What a great experience. When you score 20 Points but still absolutely enjoyed the day you know how good the course is. It is a bit out in the boonies but If you are in the Faro area it is really well worth the effort

Nice! Have always wanted to play in Portugal. Went on a family holiday years ago and remember how nice all the courses looked! Would love a crack at the Oceanico Victoria!

Having to settle for East Devon Golf Club in a few weeks!

Sounds good, can't beat holiday golf in Spain and Portugal. Played Penina a few times which is down that way, don't know where exactly in relation to Monte Rei but we flew into Faro so it can't be far away!!

The quest towards single figures continues!! Played in the midweek medal today, out in 40 which was fine but the wheels kinda fell off after the turn. Nothing horrendous, just started missing greens, didn't get off a couple of tees and generally played scruffy golf. Shots just disappeared!! Oh well, still better than working!!

Nice little late notice day off work to go and play a match for our work team.

Played at Sleaford GC. Quite a nice course if anyone is ever in the area.

My partner and I won our match 1 up, and the team won over all, so a good day!

It's the military, so participation in inter station sport is encouraged.

Some how I hadn't ever realised there is a golf thread!

As a quick intro... I fit a fairly common profile of golfer i'd think - 24 handicapper but convinced i'm a couple of rounds away from cracking it and that figure plummeting in to single figures. Very much an "all the gear, no idea" player.

Been a member at my local club for 5+ years and don't get out as much as I'd like to, partly because i'm too busy and partly because whenever I want to play the tee is reserved for competitions, societies, roll ups etc!

Played a few rounds at Castle Royle and Celtic Manor (Roman Rd/Montgomerie) in recent weeks which was good fun. Although, I would only go back to CM for the 2010 course.

Has there ever been a PH golf day or something similar?

View of the 1st tee at my club, taken about 6:45am (below). I try and get 5 holes in before work on sunny summers days - at that time of day it's millionaires golf!

I might have to swallow it and sign up. I'll report back with photos of the trophies I win.

Just killed the face of my 5 wood. I suppose 4 years of sweet spotting it finally fatigued the metal enough to crack.
Truly gutted, was a go to club off the tee and my par5 in 2 club.

What was it? I'm sure you'd get another. If not, time for a nice new version!

An i20. Booked for a fitting on Tuesday for a new G version.
Expensive month though, only just bought a Ping Tour bag, motocaddy S3 pro and on Tuesday I ordered a Ping 4 Crossover (thankfully on backorder for now)

I had the Ping rapture driving iron, but I struggled to launch it high enough to be of any use.
Went for a fitting to fit a gap at the long end of my bag. 5 wood->3 iron. I'm a low launcher of the ball and couldn't get the bloody hybrids airborne. I expected the same from the Crossover having had the rapture. But amazingly they launch the ball really nicely. I've gone down a flex to stiff to make sure I don't chase distance with it. Cant wait, love my long irons and hopefully this will be a fairway finder on tight holes.
