Had my first competition this year for our daughter school. Played off 15 and scored 38. The winner played off 24 and scored 53!
But anyone looking for a nice course paying welling Kent Knole Park golf course http://www.knoleparkgolfclub.co.uk is playing really good and also playing long this year.
That's a stones throw from me, but I thought that Knole Park was members only, they must have changed it recently? Does look a cracking track! Anyone who shoots over 46 points should be DQ'd in my opinion, no-one has that good of a day...that's the equivalent of a cat 1 golfer hitting 5/6 under par. It just doesn't happen! Makes it pointless bothering with Stableford IMO.But anyone looking for a nice course paying welling Kent Knole Park golf course http://www.knoleparkgolfclub.co.uk is playing really good and also playing long this year.

I agree, 53 points is disgusting. I'd have had to have a word!
I've signed for 55 points from a 28 handicapper that was on one. He lost 6 shots from a his handicap for that round and struggled the rest of the season to play to it.I've shot 46 points this year, I did shoot -2 gross though. So highstable ford points are possible for anyone. I'll be totally honest and say I try to avoid stableford comps purely for the reason. Medals tend to thin the heard of high handicappers playing lifey's.

Very jealous! Looks to be good weather for the occasion too.
Cabrera-Bello will be up there i'd think and at 25/1 looks to be a nice little wager. Kaymer also is a good bet, he's been talking the tournament up and knows he has to put in a good performance to keep his hopes of a Ryder Cup spot alive - he's 22/1.
Money where my mouth is -

Another Jealous one here. My money is on Luiten. 33/1, he had a great start to the year, a bunch of top 10s and a couple of seconds in there. Although he did miss the cut in Ireland..one eye on Wentworth perhaps..Cabrera-Bello will be up there i'd think and at 25/1 looks to be a nice little wager. My Crossover finally turned up. WOW. I dislike hybrids massively but this thing is a beast. Can hit it high, low, draw or fade. Its actually playing a lot longer than expected too, its possibly going to create a bit of an issue with my 5 wood gapping.
Highly recommend them if anyone is looking.

Ooooh.... sounds interesting! Going to try and get along to a local Ping demo day next week.
So easy to hit its scary. I've said previously Im a low launcher of the ball but seeing flight out a club gives me massive confidence with it. I purposely didn't flex/weight up the shaft. I went for the Stiff Alta 70 shaft. I couldn't be happier with it.
One of my playing partners just got fitted for a new hybrid, tried the crossover and didn't like it. He went for a Cally Apex hybrid (exactly like the one I bought but hated after 2 rounds) so its not a club for everyone.

Stableford is wk IMHO. It's not really golf to come away from a hole saying 'oh well, I blobbed that one'
No, you took about 10 on it!
Can you imagine how slow some of the play would be if people didn't pick up, though? No, you took about 10 on it!
But for me, Stableford ruins the delicacy of golf. Golf is supposed to be you vs. your head. Stableford frees you from that challenge, and you can swing away at anything.
It is the golf equivalent of 20:20 cricket.
golf lite.
(but, granted, it speeds things up)

First time posting in here, just wondered if anyone could offer any help/advice please.
Heading out for a golfing holiday in Portugal in a couple of months and it's the first time I've ever taken anything other than a suitcase abroad so a little unsure what I need, I presume I will need some kind of carry/travel case for the clubs? Also I take it I will need separate insurance for my clubs? If anyone has any recommendations for either that would be great and any other things I might have over looked.
Sorry if these are obvious questions, like I say first time golfing abroad, just want to make sure I have everything sorted before I go.
Thanks in advance.

The Mrs is a beginner and taking lessons. She came home on Sunday and declared that her lesson went very well so she booked a round for us at 3 o'clock. It is a nice little 9 hole par 3 course with one par 4. She wasn't wrong about getting the hang of it as I calculated that she scored 62 point to my steady 35. Bandit. She did play off the max ladies handicap that starts at 54 in France.
