The Open

Can't pick a winnerscratchchin
Same here

It's not a long hitter's paradise so Dustin, Rory and Bubba don't have their usual range advantage

The winner needs a few attributes, maturity, accuracy and thoughtfulness plus a caddy that's done his homework and communicates well

Adam Scott and Steve Williams team up well as do Speith and Michael Greller but Speith has a meltdown mentality when things don't go his way

It's pin the tail on the donkey but I'm going with Scott

Beautiful course, the real thing, looking forward to it smile

It's a bit counterintuitive, and maybe naive for Scott to bring in Williams just for the majors imo. He seemed to be doing just fine with his regular chap. Dustin might be worth a punt.

Thanks for that, wandering around aimlessly is something I'm expert at!

Appreciate the tips.
I agree with Kentlad's wandering method and stopping at greens to watch groups go through. Try to get back left or right of greens so that you can watch the balls spinning and hanging in the air as they come in to land. Also try to get level with some tee shot landing zones on par 4s as that's the best place to watch how a Pro swings the club. I went to Troon last time to watch them. It's a fabulous course watch golf played on.

ETA - when you get to a green it will be packed. Be patient because people will move away after each group comes through. Eventually you'll get a nice spot next to the ropes.....then claim your ground!

Anyone see the video of Rory taking 6 to get out of the coffin bunker? Great to see a pro struggle, but somehow i don't think he'd manage 6 when the open kicks off tomorrow!

Remember to stand well back if Bubba is on the tee!

Lovely looking day at Troon!

Willett nearly drove the green on the 1st - and then proceeded to 3 putt. That's my kind of golf hehe

1135 am, Postage stamp. Bubba over the back of the green in two. Duffs his third back into the rough. Sky commentator, "Bubbas struggling to make his par".....as he lines up for his 4th shot.
Postage stamp is a par 3!

These guys are "expert" commentators/ex golfers.

Most of the predictions of how the course will play look like they're coming true. The back nine looks like it's a good five shots harder than the front....and that's without much wind!

I'd never cash out.

When I am lying on my deathbed talking to my grandkids and little billy looks at me and says "Grandad, tell me a story from the old days"? The answer would never be - cashed out for a £20 profit when Stricker was 2001/ and 2nd after day 1 of the Open in 2016.

I'm in it to win it.

Weather-wise it's a shame this isn't the Sunday, wet tomorrow, hopefully the weekend's forecast will improve.

I'm assuming Poulter is carrying an injury, as he's commentating?

Kaymer just managed a 7 followed by a 5 on 10 and 11. And with that, that's my £5 gone!

Just wow - what an unbelievable afternoon at Troon. Riveting stuff and a real slugfest between two guys at the absolute top of their games.

Great entertainment and so pleased for Stenson - what a performance and a joy to watch.
