OK, so I was wrong.

D'you think the tactic was to get the Italians overconfident?

It was a good try though, down to Danny. A convenient bounce but he seemed to be able to cope with whatever it did.

I think they've twigged that the Italians are tiring. Jones did say they'd win in the last 20, maybe he actually knows a thing or two

You are right. They are breathing heavily.

Watson's going well.

Last quarter for us to shine.

I was thinking of Parisee. He was, is, everywhere. The bloke's a rugby genius.

That's a great scoreline from what was, for a lot of the game, a rather poor performance.

England were merely average in the first 50 mins. But 31 point lead is quite comfortable.

My lad said England would play for the last quarter and I think he got it right. They tried not to give it away in the first half. Italy just threw themselves into it.

England were poor in some places: lineout and rucks were a bit of a struggle.

The third Joseph try was a cracker. His second was a bit of a 50:50 with Danny.

Not the most riveting match apart from wondering if England would suddenly start to play.

It just shows what happens when you get quick ball. Reasonably happy in the end

I just think Kruis' work at the breakdown kept us going for large chunks of the game

Just seen a replay of the first Joseph try. Not quite as easy as I thought. He had set himself up for a full-bloodied tackle and changed direction and stance as soon as the pass left hands.

How the holy fk did Youngs get MOTM? He wasn't even England's best scrum half...........

Felt a bit sorry for Italy they were as good as England were bad for patches in that game, maybe 7 or 8 times out of 10 Haskell gets binned for his late challenge in the air.

Haskell was better than Robshaw today, Robshaw I think has been poor in both games now. Itoje and Clifford making the back line far more balanced brought speed and power to the breakdown, you do have keep it in context that it was up against some tired legs, but are far more dynamic forwards than the ones they replaced.

I hope by the end of this 6N going into the tour of Australia these young lads are starters, I thought Hartley could be a short term appointment for the captaincy, Jamie George seems a much better hooker at the moment, however I don't see an obvious choice outside him other than Kruis....

Kruis was very good today, Marler did what Mako Vunipola did last week making an impact from the bench.

Sort of went as expected today, Italy didn't look like scoring but better opposition may have hurt us more in that first half. I think the Ford Farrell combo could be exposed against better sides but would expect them to start together in the Ireland game and baring injury see out the 6N.

As an Italy fan, a bit gutted. Sarto's interception pass was a real kick in the balls. But no complaints about the final scoreline.

For once, I thought Parisse was eclipsed by one of his own. Campagnaro was superb. Quick brain, quick feet, strong and confident. Which ironically is good news for England, because if it encourages Exeter to keep playing him at 13 then that means playing Henry Slade regularly at 12, a position in which I think he would be outstanding for England

Anyway, I think maybe Conor O'Shea and Mike Catt have some decent raw material to play with going forward. 10 regulars to come back from injury, youngsters coming through. The next phase is fitness and conditioning.

PS I thought Woodward was incredibly patronising in his post-match commentary, describing Scotland and Italy as second-rate. Even of you think it, you just don't say it.

Italy have got some good youngsters coming on. I think that they could become a lot better in years to come. Let's hope so. A few good performances will encourage others.

As for Woodward, he's said it as he sees it for years. He's never been one for polite. His quiet tone and smile makes you think he's generous but that's a smokescreen.
