Need somebody to do a Jaguar E Type inspection before I buy
Discussion
Hello all,
Can anybody recommend a person or firm to do an inspection on a Jaguar E Type? I'm looking to buy one but need a professional to look at it first, preferably somebody who specialises in E Types and knows these cars well, along with their faults! ;0) The car is currently in Northamptonshire. And if possible, what I can expect to pay for such a service?
Thanks in advance!

Perhaps the best solution would be to get in touch with the owners' clubs to see if they have any recommendations. Or perhaps take a look at the services advertised in the back of the classic car mags.
Failing that, a quick google brings up a couple of classic jag specialists nearby, including this place:

I don't know them from Adam, but I'd give them a call, see if it's a service they'd provide, and take it from there. In terms of cost, I'd see if you can agree their standard hourly rate plus travel time and costs. I've no idea, but I'd guess £200-250 all in for a thorough poke and prod?

Northampton is a long way from Paul Roach, who I know by the way and he is super. Angus Moss is tops too. Just to throw another in the mix, depending on availability of time is Mark Meade of Coalville, company name MDM Services 01530 838666. Known him for over 20 years myself. The other would be John Burton, chairman of the E-type register of the JDC. Takes E-types apart and rebuilds them before breakfast and an acknowledged marque expert. On holiday this coming week, but 02380 644179 will get him after that. My advice is based on over 30 years of ownership by the way.
