Bose don't just make speakers!
Insightful watch, and wait for it...yes, the car did an ollie!

Do we think they used a 20yo car for the demos...? Or have Bose been trying to flog it since the mid '90s and not got anywhere yet...?Insightful watch, and wait for it...yes, the car did an ollie!

It would be interesting to know what the weight penalty of the system is.
I think the overall effect will be neutral - by the time they've substantially lightened the driver's wallet! These systems will become commonplace with GPS enabling cars to prepare the suspension for a bend as you arrive at it. All part of the autonomous experience.

I suspect the fuel economy penalty would be massive too (as it's presumably using power the whole time to suspend the car)
You'd hope it's not constantly using power. There's no reason the car shouldn't be suspended at normal ride-height by steel springs with the EM forces being used only when there's a reason to do something different. That way it should also be possible to use back-EMF to recapture some of the energy as the springs return to their natural state. kambites said:

There is also the fact that cars that don't lean are HORRIBLE to drive, as the driver gets very little feedback of wheel loadings. Most road cars with active chassis are programmed to lean progressively.
